Four Arrested for Car Theft and Burglary
(Abingdon, MD – August 27, 2008) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested four juveniles for motor vehicle theft, theft over $500.00, and first degree burglary.
On Sunday August 24, 2008 at approximately 3:15 am, Sheriff’s deputies were called to Laurel Woods Court, Abingdon, MD in reference to four suspects tampering with vehicles in the area. While investigating, deputies determined several items had been stolen from at least one vehicle in the 100 block of Laurel Woods Court. Director of Operations Robbed and Kidnapped At Ripken Stadium In Aberdeen Thursday Morning

Police investigate reported kidnapping and robbery
(Aberdeen, Maryland) August 28, 2008 - At about 02:25 hrs the Baltimore County Police received a call of an injured subject in the area of Ebenezer Road and Pulaski Highway.
Arriving officers found 30 year old Brian Baynes suffering from a serious arm injury. Baynes is an employee for the restaurant concession at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen.
Baynes was finishing up nightly duties in an office area when a male entered, displayed a handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money the male forced Baynes into his vehicle and forced him to drive from the area. The in area of Ebenezer Road and Pulaski Highway Baynes exited his vehicle and ran into a wooded area.
During the incident Baynes suffered a laceration type injury to his arm. He is being treated at Bayview Hospital. The Aberdeen Police Department Criminal Investigation Section is conducting the investigation and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the section at 410-272-2121.

For the past two weeks many of us have watched the Olympics with great interest. I am sure many of you, like myself, have been paying attention to the race with China in the medal count. The USA finished the games with more medals than China 110-100. Unfortunately the USA was unable to keep up with China in the gold medal count, with China winning 51-36. Sobriety Checkpoint In Aberdeen On Friday Aims To Curb Drinking and Driving

Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled
(Aberdeen, MD – August 25, 2008) As part of their continuing efforts to curb incidents of drinking and driving, Harford County Sheriff’s deputies and the Aberdeen Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday August 29, 2008.
The checkpoint is grant funded by the Harford County Highway Safety Office and the Maryland Highway Safety Office. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office and the Aberdeen Police Department in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Mid-Atlantic Region, state and local transportation and law enforcement agencies from the Mid-Atlantic States are continuing Checkpoint Strikeforce, the nation’s border-to-border sobriety checkpoint initiative.
The checkpoint is an ongoing enforcement action to remove impaired drivers from our county roads. Assistance will be provided by the Maryland State Highway Administration and representatives from MADD will also be in attendance.
“We encourage people to plan ahead and select a designated driver or plan for alternative transportation,” said Sgt. Joseph VanSeeters, Supervisor of the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.

Conroy Scholarship Fully Funded For All Applicants on Waiting List

Delegate Susan McComas’ office tells The Dagger that the Conroy scholarships, for the families of injured or fallen law enforcement officers and fire fighters as well as 9/11 victims who have fallen in the line of duty, will be fully funded.
On Monday, August 25, letters were mailed to all 40 applicants for the scholarship, who had been previously promised the financial assistance only to recently find out the state’s funding allocation for the program had run dry.
