Representative Frank Kratovil, representing Maryland’s 1st Congressional District is finally waking up from the daze he has been in since January, or so it seems. I received a form letter from him that declared that he would make sure to read and understand the entire health care bill that is currently on the floor of the House before he votes. It is interesting to me that he has embraced this idea now, after he voted for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Stimulus Bill to the rest of us) and the American Clear Energy and Security Act of 2009 (Cap and Trade Bill) without reading either of them. It is quite unsettling to me that he, along with hundreds of other Congressmen and Congresswomen voted to support this legislation knowing what it says. How much money has to be on the line before they will realize ...Continue Reading
After his debut last week, Ilya the Floridian manatee seems to have taken a liking to the Susquehanna River and has recently made appearances on the shores of both Cecil and Harford County.
A Perryville Town Commissioner snapped photos of the wayward sea cow last Wednesday and a group of Havre de Gracians greeted the manatee with cameras and open arms Sunday afternoon when it surfaced near some condominiums.
Officials from the National Aquarium in Baltimore continue to monitor the manatee’s movements and urge people to take precautions to keep themselves and Ilya safe.

The National Aquarium has confirmed another sighting of manatee “Ilya”, reported yesterday in Perryville by Town Commissioner Gary Tennis. The animals appears to be moving freely between the top of the Bay and the Susquehanna River.
Attached are pictures taken by Commissioner Tennis, along with a map.
The following letter was received from the office of Del. Rick Impallaria:
Health Care and Insurance Issues – July 28, 2009
Many of you have recently been expressing to me your concerns about Pres. Obama’s proposing drastic changes in our health insurance. I share your concerns, and, by what I read about it, I believe that the bill now being worked on in Washington will result in a system of nationalized health care. Other countries’ experience has proved that rationing is inevitable, with long waits for routine care, treatment, and surgery. Our elderly will be counseled to just go away and die, for, in the immortal words of Ebenezer Scrooge, “If they be like to die, they better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”
I protest these draconian approaches to health insurance and health care, and have, among other things, called AARP Maryland to voice my opposition.
A recording engineer for the Beatles in 1968 at Abbey Road, working on “Let It Be” at the crisp, tender age of eighteen, British-born Alan Parsons etched a career in sound and imagery far ahead of where his next paycheck was coming from.
Now 61 and touring with the instantly recognizable Alan Parsons Project, Mr. Parsons has evolved from engineer, control room master-mind, to composer, and belatedly to live stage performer. His unique genre of music is a perfect blend of popular, soulful, ethereal sounds with a good dose of driving rhythms and well-crafted compositions pleasing to all who listen. What is truly amazing about Mr. Parsons is how he has not only created the songs, but that even from the back of the stage and behind his bandmates he quietly orchestrates the performances in such a subtle way as to render himself invisible to all but the music. ...Continue Reading
