With beautiful fall weather, candidates and voters have been talking outside of town hall as what has been the most contested town election in recent years comes to a climax. As of 2:30 on election day estimates were that 550 voters had come to the polls, and there was a steady trickle of voters for a non-peak hour.

Davis and Adolph were each stationed at the border of the “no electioneering” limit talking to voters one last time before their vote was cast. They had 10-15 supporters with them. One Davis supporter bore a sandwich board sign illuminating what Davis called “Carey’s Tax and Spend record.”

Incumbent Preston returned to his post on the north side of town to join a woman holding one of his signs around 2:45 p.m.

Commissioner David Carey had been at the polls earlier in the day with his 2 dogs; each dog had a shirt for Preston & Carey.

Polls close today at 8:00 p.m.
