Sharon, "breathe new life", you'd need CPR and a full cylinder of O2 to that wish. The council will still be stacked three to two, Mike Bennett will continue to stifle any growth in Aberdeen and we'll continue to pay Harford County $$millions$$ of our tax money for water. As for massive annexation..please go to City Hall and review the city growth plans which came out two decades ago. Annexations are programmed, scheduled events to keep track with expected industrial and residential growth. BRAC has been on the board for the past three years, every place except Aberdeen. Mike Bennett and his supporters do not want annexation and growth for this city. Many of his supporters would just as soon see BRAC people live someplace else. They don't want new housing to support the expected influx. Harford, Cecil and Baltimore County have been constructing new housing developments for that long. Now there's another developer who wants a parcel west of Aberdeen along rote 22 annexed so he can build a business park. Bennett wants his to wait and go through the normal annexation process. It'll be another two years before he's able to break ground. Let me tewll you about water...alternative sources are viable. The geological surveys and test holes have established that fresh water in under this city. An agreement with Havre de Grace is also possible, either one wouold be cheaper that paying Harford County for our water. But if we had a viable source for water, there wouold be no REAL reason not to annex Glengarry or other adjacent properties to Aberdeen, and that's what Bennett and half of the City council don't want to do.....As far as the council going to Annapolis for help...puuulllleeeaaasssse. They need to get our state representatives in a closed room and find out what it will take to get a hotel room tax for Aberdeen, then in good political fashion give it up. Last comment then I have to get to work, the colored lights display I thought were a good touch. If people were scared off because it represented "big city" I'll bet they really miss their party line telephones and still hope those horseless carriages would make so much noise.

I was not impressed with 2 years of Mike Bennett and am really hoping that the mix up on the council will breath some new life in to what has become a very stagnant government. Aberdeen needs revenue. Aberdeen needs to stay away from outside influences whether it be Art Helton or R3 developers. Forcing the issue on a hotel tax is very good start, I expect those retirees that sit on the council get together and drive down to Annapolis weekly and start pushing.

I would have liked to have seen what Mike Hiob could bring to the table without massive annexation, I guess there were 150 or so more than me that are content with the Mike Bennett no direction plan but I remain hopeful.

I do think that the Mike Hiob moving light show was a bit over the top. I don't think that it cost him the election but it did cost some votes. Too much flash conveys big city and we're not a big city and the display changed a couple of voters minds, "big city" scares people.

Mike Hiob is a good man and a class act. I admire him greatly for the hard work and dedication he has given Aberdeen over these past 6 years. With that said, Hiob knows the workings of municipal government more than anyone I know. I hope he keeps his hand in the mix. Although he came up short in the mayoral election...no worries...everything happens for a reason. Go MIKE!
