From Harford Family House:
2nd Annual Purse Auction Event to Benefit Three Non-profit Organizations Providing Housing to People in Need in Harford County
On September 16th, 17th and 18th, a Silent Purse Auction entitled HOPE IN HANDBAGS, will be held at the Bel Air Armory on Main Street.
The three organizations who will benefit from the event are FCCAU, Faith Communities And Civic Agencies United, Harford Family House, Inc. and Harford Habitat for Humanity. These organizations are partnering to highlight the continuum of care they provide to those in need of housing in Harford County. FCCAU offers a night shelter and day program to homeless men and women. Harford Family House offers a one-year transitional housing program to homeless families with children, and Harford Habitat for Humanity sells houses to those in need of affordable homes.
Their dream is to see homeless families in the FCCAU shelter move into the transitional housing program at Harford Family House. After they have received case management support, the goal is to prepare them to build and purchase their own home through Habitat for Humanity. Part of that dream has already been realized as some Harford Family house clients have already purchased Habitat homes.
The event will feature new and gently used designer and celebrity handbags, stuffed with gift certificates, tickets to events and other desirable items. Admission to the event is free and shoppers will have three days to bid on their favorite items or purchase discounted handbags at the cash and carry section.
Sponsorship opportunities are available and donations of handbags and items to stuff the bags are being sought. Purse donations can be made at the following locations:
All Harford County Curves Locations, Long & Foster Real Estate in Belcamp, Rapid Refill in Bel Air and the HdG Office of Tourism and Visitors Center

Call for Purses – Hope in Handbags Purse Auction To benefit FCCAU, Harford Family House & Harford Habitat for Humanity
The 2010 Purse Auction Committee is seeking donations or new, gently used, vintage, celebrity and designer purses to be stuffed and used as auction items or to be sold retail at the Hope in Handbags event.
Faith Communities & Civic Agencies United (FCCAU), Harford Family House and Harford Habitat for Humanity are partnering to raise funds and awareness through a Silent Purse Auction on Sept. 16, 17 & 18, 2010 at the Bel Air Armory. The funds raised will support Harford County adults and children in need of a safe, decent place to call home. As one of our potential celebrity donors, we are writing today to ask you to donate a new or gently used purse, handbag or tote and autograph the interior lining.
Last year’s auction was a great success raising $15,000 with an attendance of over 350 people and over 1,000 handbags donated. Most importantly, the event raised awareness for the missions of our three agencies in our community.
Please feel free to stuff your donated purses.
