From the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office:
On October 8, 2010, Rebecca Jeanette Kinser of Smith’s Green Kentucky, plead guilty in Harford County Circuit Court after three days of testimony was presented to a jury, to second degree murder of Charles Shourds, Jr, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
The Defendant shot and killed Mr. Shourds on April 29, 2010 in her apartment in Joppa, Harford County Maryland. The evidence presented showed that Defendant showered, went to her bedroom, retrieved a 9mm Beretta semi-automatic handgun and went to the living room where Mr. Shourds was sitting on the sofa and shot him six times. The Defendant admitted her guilt in open court before Judge William O. Carr.
She was sentenced to thirty years, with eighteen years to serve and the balance suspended. She will be on two years supervised probation upon her release from prison, and is ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family, and to receive drug and alcohol treatment. The victim’s son, Dwight Vance, his wife Chrissy, and his family were present in court at the time of the plea.
