From Sen. Nancy Jacobs:
LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Voters,
I am both humbled and honored that you chose me to represent you in the State Senate. Thank you for your vote and support.
I’d like to add a very special thank you to all of our volunteers for their hard work, long hours and dedication to our shared goals.
Together we will continue to fight for tougher laws against child sexual predators, cracking down on gang violence and fighting against onerous tax hikes that hurt working families and small businesses.
You can count on me to work hard day and night for the fine people of Harford and Cecil counties. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 410-841-3158, nancy.jacobs@senate.state.md.us or via my website at www.nancyjacobs.com if there is anything I can ever do to help you.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for re-electing me to the State Senate.
God Bless,
Nancy Jacobs
State Senator, District 34–Harford & Cecil Counties

Actually, unless I missed something, the voters of Harford County did NOT choose you! You should thank that the national Republican Party/Fox News media blast that brainwashed so many in rural Cecil County or this would have been your concession letter…
The Communicator says
BSmeter,
You did miss something, Sen. Jacobs addressed the letter to “Dear Voters” not Harford or Cecil county. Your analogy is that citizens of harford county should not recognize Jacobs as their Senator? Senator Jacobs won her district like O’Malley won the state. If we followed your lead, 80% of the state would not rcognize O’Malley as governor…..my apologies, I believe you make a good point.
Monster says
That is what I call an analytical anwer. Good job.
my 2 cents says
Why is it that you can’t accept the verdict of the people. The majority of voters are not sheep. They actually can think for themselves. They may not be as knowledgeable about all the details of government but they do get a sense of who the candidates are as people and that is how they vote – on faith that their candidate will do the right thing. Of course that doesn’t always turn out to be the case with all the professional spin doctors that big campaigns invest in for public relations.
Hey, so what happened to your guy Robinson? The Board of Elections web site shows he lost every precinct, even the one he actually lives in. It seems that even the people living in Edgewood could see Frisch was the better candidate. I hope Robinson and Washington finally figured it out that Guthrie was only using them for his own gain. If it wasn’t for Edgewood Guthrie would be packing his bags. Robinson is done politically and dems won’t waste anymore time and energy on him. Washington is damaged goods but may be able to rehabilitate himself before the next election but he has a lot of work to do – I don’t see it happening. Guthrie has made himself even less relevant. He is disliked by many in the dem leadership and the election results show he is very vulnerable against the right candidate. The vote for Baldwin was as much a vote against Guthrie as it was for her. He should go out gracefully after this term or he will go down to defeat in the next election. Somehow I don’t see that happening – he’s too much of an egotist.
The election results also show Republicans are making inroads in southern Harford Co. Glass winning, Baldwin making a strong showing, Frisch (even though that was a non-partisan race) is a Republican, and Kohl almost pulled it out. It would appear that the tide is changing not just in Harford Co. as a whole but along Rt. 40 as well.
Another Political Critic says
Great point in regards to the Route 40 corridor. It has been coming together for the HarCo GOP for awhile, recently resulting in our red letter day (which is a major achievement in a state like Maryland). I believe the people along the Route 40 corridor are starting to realize the Democrats have held a firm grip on Annapolis for 100 years or however long it has been and they could be doing so much better.
I have spent a significant amount of time in Prince Georges County and we are noticeably better off, despite PG County feeding off of DC. Harford County is serving as one of the last bastions of conservatism in Maryland and it truly shows.
Open Minded Dem says
I agree with everything you said. Especially the Robinson and Guthrie points.
Closed Minded Voter says
Guthrie won every precinct in both Joppatowne and Edgewood, Baldwin I think only won 1 precinct in Joppa.
Frisch WINS says
Where are you getting your information? As I look at the official figures from the Board of Elections web page I see that Baldwin won 4 of 5 precincts in the Joppa/Joppatowne area with the one loss being very close at 48%. Clearly Edgewood carried Guthrie to election. I stand by my earlier assertion that Guthrie pandered to the minority vote in Edgewood by using Washington and Robinson. Guthrie should enjoy these next 4 years as they will be his last in public office. The Republicans can smell blood in the water and next time will put up an even more formidable opponent and Guthrie will lose. His negatives in Joppa will only increase. He will continue to lose more voters. Even those in Edgewood will have come to their senses to realize he is just using them. The only way the Democrats hold this office is if they dump Guthrie and run a different candidate. But as I said before Guthrie does not know when to give it up. Maybe the Democratic leadership will have the courage to put him out to pasture. Sometimes it is just necessary to put an old horse down.

Is Art still whining about some internet conspiracy to take him down? The man has no shame. 6 elections lost in a row. Instead of pouring his millions into himself in more shameless ploys, he ought to think about the future. What he did to Rovall Washington was unforgivable and selfish.

I told u all a week ago I had this one under control
Christopher Boardman says
Dear Nancy,
Congratulations on your win, and you should also congratulate Art Helton for carrying Harford County and for all his very hard and determined work to return to the Senate. I had a lot of mixed feelings about this particular race. I’ve known you now for years and have appreciated your friendliness; you are someone I genuinely like, but unfortunately I disagree with many if not most of your political views.
One of the criticisms I have heard is that elected officials and others in responsible positions in the county feel that they cannot count on you when your help is needed. I imagine this is because your partisanship and passion about issues is blinding you about the true needs that need to be addressed in the county. At some point we need to stop being partisans and start being responsible people and provide help when needed.
I can expand this to many other Republicans who also got elected this year. When you become part of the majority, you must be part of the solution and not just part of the problem. If they are not, they won’t be in government long.
I just wanted to extend my best wishes. And remember, you can learn from your critics. They can help you become better at what you do than those who adore uncritically.
Paul from Aberdeen says
Agree, Christopher. Why doesn’t Senator Jacobs get Harford County a motel room occupancy tax? With all these big motels and hundreds of visitors coming to APG, just think of the thousands of dollars she is costing us! Why, Nancy, why? Give us some good reasons.
henry scott says
Great Job Nancey thank you for all that you continue to to help the people of Harford Co.. You have shown you are a Lady that can get in the ring with a high roller and win with out slinging any BS.,you proved you cannot win with your check book .
GOPerative says
Congratulations Senator! We knew you would do it again. Oh and don’t forget that being in Annapolis is more important than going to your parent’s funeral or caring for you husband while he recovers from cancer treatment. And if you are going to sell one of your two homes in Florida, please offer a discount to the Heltons to get them out of here. Thanks for all you do to protect us from the General Asylum.

A big thank you to all of the candidates who won the 2010 election because they are actually the best qualified person with the skills needed to represent their constituency. To the rest of the candidates who won merely because they had an “R” behind their name on the ballot – give a big thanks to the shallow voters who were manipulated to vote Republican no matter how ill qualified the candidate. We are so lucky to live in a country where we have the right to vote. It is very unfortunate to have so many voters who disrespect this right. The people have spoken in this election and have said that many of them are ill informed puppets on strings.
that's a laugh says
Nancy Jacobs only works for herself as demonstrated in her endorsement of Jansen Robinson (a Democrat) in the District A school board race. She can try to spin it anyway she wants but we all know the real reason – to try and cater to the Edgewood vote. She panicked because Helton was gaining ground. As it turns out she made a calculated (but foolish decision) to back Robinson since she didn’t need Edgewood votes anyway. She already is and will continue to pay a terrible price for this within the Republican Party leadership.
Another observation, every candidate Nancy has backed in the last two elections has lost. How is that for coat tails? Sounds more like the kiss of death. Would be Republican candidates should take notice and stay away from Nancy like the plague. Oh well, it won’t matter in the future because Nancy is done after this election because the Democrats are going to redraw her district in favor of the dems anyway.
frustrated says
Would Jacobs, Helton, Robinson, McGrady, and Guthrie PLEEEEEEEASE take down your signs. It has been long enough and you should have more respect for us than to make us have to look at your trash for this length of time. Other candidates have already done the right thing and cleaned up their mess. Get a move on!!!
belairfed says
surprising how close Helton got after being out of the spotlight for so long now. seems to signal a good bit of negative feelings or apathy towards Jacobs.
