From the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office:
The Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office has completed its review of the investigation of Cole Westona, a Baltimore County police officer. As a result of that review, Mr. Weston has been charged with Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on 23 March 2011 in the Parkville area of Baltimore County. It appears that Mr. Weston was off-duty at the time.
To avoid the appearance of impropriety, Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger requested the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office to review the investigation. At trial, the case will be prosecuted by the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office.
There will be no further comment from either office about this matter.
