From The Bel Air High School Drama Company:
The Bel Air Drama Company of Bel Air High School will present Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical The Phantom of the Opera in the Bel Air High School Auditorium. This year’s production is unique for a number of reasons.
The Phantom of the Opera is the most successful entertainment venture of all time. It is the longest running show in the history of Broadway having played close to 10,000 performances in the past 23 years. It has grossed over 5 billion dollars worldwide and has been seen by over 100 million audience members. The rights for amateur groups to perform this magnificent piece were just made available this Fall and Bel Air will be one of the first high schools in the region to produce the play.
This Spring’s musical will also mark the 50th major mainstage production produced by the Bel Air Drama Company. Bel Air High School’s extra-curricular theatre program has been presenting quality drama productions for over 20 years, growing from a small group of 20 interested students to an organization that often includes up to 100 young theatre artists. The group is excited to be celebrating a milestone production by recreating one of the most recognized Broadway musicals of all time.
Also, the group is using this particular production as a benefit event for one of their alumni. Todd Gagliano (BAHS Class of 1991) was an original member of the drama troupe. This November, he suffered a tramautic brain injury as the result of a hit and run accident in Chicago. He has been fighting his way back but considering the mounting medical bills, the Drama Company has decided to donate 10% of our proceeds from Phantom to aid in his recovery.
The production will run April 14th, 15th and 16th. All performances are at 7:00 pm with a 2:00 matinee on the 16th. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. If you would like to buy tickets in advance, please contact the school’s office at (410) 638-4600.

Went to see Phantom last night. The Auditorium was packed! The play was amazing and the vocals were outstanding! The scenery and the effects look so professional. It’s hard to believe these kids are in high school. Another wonderful production from the Bel Air Drama Company.
