On July 9, 2011 at approximately 12:26 p.m. troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to Rock Spring Avenue (MD Route 24) south of Rock Spring Church Road, for a three vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Accord, operated by Young Hui Park (58 yoa) of Baltimore, Md., was traveling southbound on Rock Spring Avenue.
Mr. Park initiated a left turn from the southbound through lane onto Myers Drive. At the same time, a 2001 Harley Davidson, operated by Edward John Rogers 3rd (54 yoa) of Joppa, Md., was traveling northbound Rock Spring Avenue, approaching the Myers Drive intersection. The driver of the Honda Accord then failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle during the left turn. Upon being ejected the motorcycle operator was struck by another vehicle, Mazda pickup, traveling southbound on Rock Spring Avenue. The Mazda pickup was operated by William Hensley (52 yoa) of Whiteford, Md.
Mr. Rogers was flown by Trooper 1 to R. Adams Cowley, Shock Trauma Center where on July 11, 2011 he died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
