From the City of Havre de Grace:
In 2011, Havre de Grace Won the Free States Finest award for having the finest historic downtown. In 2012, Havre de Grace shines as a destination with some of the finest businesses and historic downtown in the Baltimore Region according to the 2012 results of the Maryland Life reader’s poll.
Announced in the March issue of Maryland Life Magazine, 7 businesses in Harford County, 6 from Havre de Grace, will be awarded the 2012 Free State Finest. They include Laurrapin Grille, Bulle Rock Golf, La Banque de Fleuve, Tidewater Marina, Vandiver Inn, Historic Havre de Grace, and Brooms Bloom Diary.
“This announcement comes as we are ready to kick off our summer tourism season, says Brigitte Peters. Main Street’s First Fridays and Farmers Market starts in May with some great new ideas to enhance the visitor experience. The museums will be opening with great festivals to enjoy and celebrate our heritage. All reasons the readers of Maryland Life love Havre de Grace. “
La Banque de Fleuve has had less then 40 events since its opening. How it gets best is truly a head scratcher.
i could be wrong but the only Broom’s Bloom DAIRY I know of is in Creswell, and one has to go through Aberdeen to get to HDG from there…so that Broom’s isn’t in HdG….
oh, wait a minute, it’s not the same place…HdG has Broom’s Bloom DIARY…
just sayin’….
@Todd Holden: Broom’s Bloom is on the outskirts of Bel Air (if you want to call it “Creswell,” OK). But the story says that six of seven Harford County businesses on the Free State’s Finest list were from HdG; not too observant there, Mr. Holden. However, as local ice cream shops go, which is the one measure I have for Broom’s Bloom, I much prefer Bomboy’s. That Bomboy’s is in HdG is merely coincidental in context.
young ‘observer’ be so kind as to identify yourself and inform us all of the years of residency you’ve had in this established area. It would be the acme of foolishness for anyone who has knowledge of these parts not to realize the Dallam family’s venture, Broom’s Bloom Dairy is closer to Creswell than Bel Air or Havre de Grace for that matter.
Did you pick up on the mention of ‘Diary’ in the original Dagger article?
you are among the fodder of aliases…it is the pinnacle of pitifulness to disguise one’s self…as you do…I call you out! Find another tree to pee behind…leave my words alone…they meant no harm, no malice, just the mere mention of a fine place for family and fun and food…especially ice cream…idle on, in neutral…till you find your name and put it forthwith.
Mr. Holden: Aside from whatever period of my life I spent as a newborn at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, and one year spent as a graduate student in Ohio, I have spent all of my 55+ years in Harford County, a graduate of Harford County public schools — and very proud to have graduated from one of the much-maligned Route 40 corridor high schools — and do not care to release my name to the public as I value my privacy. Besides, your reply to my comment is almost totally irrelevant to your original comment.
well, there you have it…there’s no further need to beat a dead horse…right? i guess this is my argument with folks who don’t use their true names, what’s the harm in good banter, with real names…just sayin’…
Congratualtions to all of the businesses listed for being amongst the tops. Unless I misread the article and despite the typo, it states that 7 harford County businesses were selected and that 6 of them were located in Havre de Grace. The magnificent ice cream store is a HARFORD COUNTY treasure. Regardless of any other discrepancies, with gas prices rising, I am overjoyed in the era of staycations that so many marvelous places exist within a gas tank of our region and are affordable outings.
Kudos to all!
Todd is an obvious nitwit. Anonymous.
Thank you Dagger for picking up the release and many thanks for all of the comments. The typo is reflective of human error on my part. Broom’s Bloom Dairy is very deserving and congratulations to all the businesses that have been acknowledged in the March issue of Maryland Life.
