The Board of Bel Air Town Commssioners will introduce Monday night a tentative budget for fiscal year 2013 in the amount of $15,754,120, which holds the town’s tax rates at $0.50 and $1.16 per $100 of assessable value of real and personal property, respectively.
The tax rates remain unchanged from the fiscal year 2012 budget and the overall proposed budget would be down from $16,396,575, largely because the $1.3 million the town spent on purchasing the BB&T property this year will be off the books.
The commissioners will also introduce an ordinance which would amended the town’s development regulations to allow an increase in building height in the R-2 (Medium Density) Residential district for single family homes and townhouses.
In other business Monday night, the Board of Town Commissioners are expected to make appointments to Board of Ethics and approve the bid award for the purchase of defibrillators.
The commissioners will also recognize student Emma Olsen of St. Margaret School and issue proclamations in recognition of Arbor Day and to Reg Traband of the town’s Appearance & Beautification Committee.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in Bel Air Town Hall.
