From Del. Glen Glass:
Notice to the Great Constituents of District 34,
I applaud the efforts of Senator Nancy Jacobs and Delegate Mary-Dulany James for their leadership in serving the citizens of District 34.
I have reached out to the both of them on several occasions to discuss how the three of us can forge a strategic partnership in regards to the congressional redistricting and same-sex marriage petition drives that are currently underway. I believe working together can draw further attention to our endeavors, both on a local level as well as statewide.
Unfortunately due to their busy schedules, Senator Jacobs and Delegate James have been unable to make a commitment to this cause. I am certainly understanding of their circumstances, however, time is running out and we need all the help we can get if we are going to bring this map to referendum.
Last year I was the Harford Coordinator to bring the Dream Act, which would have given instate tuition for illegal immigrants, to referendum with the help of Harford County citizens and many volunteers. We were successful with getting it on the ballot. However, Senator Jacobs was unable to help us with that petition drive as well.
We are in a unique position to assist each other in our efforts to promote both petitions to a statewide audience, as well as a targeted, local approach. With the three of us living in the district, we have the experience to promote these very important petitions on a grassroots level and their influence as a State Senator and Delegate can reach far beyond Harford and Cecil County to acquire more signatures. I believe that their work, contacts, and sphere of influence could greatly benefit this campaign.
I ask that you contact their offices and urge them to assist with the petition drive to stop the congressional redistricting map. We need their help in our final push to place this on the ballot in November.
You can also support us by visiting www.mdpetitions.com where you can download, sign, and mail in your petition. If you would like to serve on the frontlines with me, email me at glenglassworks@gmail.com to volunteer. Right now Congress has a current approval rating of only 9%; the citizens of Maryland deserve better.
Sincerely,
Your Delegate and Servant Glen Glass

Kind of late now… petitions are due to the state in 5 days (and must be turned in to the sponsors first).

Maybe Senator Jacobs and Delegate James don’t want to look as bigoted as the anti-civil rights protesters of the 50’s and 60’s once same-sex marriage is passed. Too late for Delegate Glass, he’s already chosen to be on the wrong side of history.
Original Observer says
And when the people both turn down the illegal immigrant lobby and stand with the people of 32 other states by restoring traditional marriage, which side of history will you find yourself on? There’s more than one reason those on the right are called “the right”; the most important one is that we’re right.
Billy Jack says
This is a civil rights issue. History will show you and your ilk to be the bigots you are.
David A. Porter says
Anytime someone has sought to infringe on the rights of others, they have usually been shown to be dinosaurs of their era. Stay where you are, do not progress, do not become tolerant, learn to fear and hate and please continue to inspire others with your venom. It will of course make things easier for the rest of us that want to get along with each other.
MIKE PERRONE JR. says
Funny that between the two petition drives, the law that harms nobody (gay marriage) looks certain to make the ballot, while the one that harms everyone (gerrymandering) might not.
HYDESMANN says
Some people have objections to gay marriage based on their religious beliefs much like they object to having their church provide contraception to their employees as Obama has decreed. To call them bigots, haters and intolerant shows how some people can only see one side of a issue. Their side. I also don’t understand why anyone would support the dream act when many American students and their families are suffering with the financial burdens of a college education. Save the billions that would go to illegals and give it to American students.
David A. Porter says
No one is forcing them to adopt these beliefs for themselves. Instead they are forcing their beliefs on others. That is malicious hate and bigotry. There is no way around it… you can’t be considered tolerant if you are intolerant to the rights of others and if you seek government sanctioned imposition of your religious beliefs on the actions of others.
B says
As opposed to your bigotry and intolerance towards people of faith
Cdev says
It is not intolerant of faith it is simply asking not to have someones religious views forced down my throat by the govt. What if their was some islamic law and we adopted it because it was an islamic law and forced you to comply with it for no other reason…..would you be ok with that?
Kharn says
“It is not intolerant of faith it is simply asking not to have someones religious views forced down my throat by the govt.”
And if one considers atheism a religion, you get into dueling interests. Who’s right? The group that believes A, or the group that believes in B?
I say get the government out of the “marriage” debate and only issue civil union licenses to any two consenting adults with $75 that appear at the courthouse during business hours. If someone wants to find a religious person to perform a cermony (in accordence with that religion’s beliefs, ie, no suing to require a Catholic priest to marry a gay couple, etc) and provide a religious certificate proclaiming marriage, that’s fine.
David A. Porter says
My right to swing my arms wildly extends up and until the point that your nose begins.
Cdev says
Most people’s religions don’t need state recognition and to pay a tax to practice them!!!!!
HYDESMANN says
I’m not so sure marriage is a right. Most state constitutions and Federal law define marriage as between a man and a woman. So isn’t the issue about changing existing law, not given rights? And if that is the case shouldn’t the citizens be involved? It seems than anytime someone disagrees with the socialist, liberal, progressive agenda of the left the buzz words fly. You know what they are: bigot, racist, intolerant, hater, mean spirited, anti immigrant etc. I say obey the laws or work to change them or keep them, which these petitions are doing.
Cdev says
Yes but that federal law has been held to be unconstitutional in the lower appelate courts. Also in MD the constiution says nothing about marriage as between a man and a women and the federal constitution requires that all legal pronouncements be recognized from state to state.
Kharn says
Lets talk about that when MD honors out-of-state handgun carry permits.
David A. Porter says
The notion that a law abiding citizen in Colorado, Arizona, New York or Maryland cannot legally carry their firearms across state lines without violating the law is ludicrous. This is a major issue that remains unresolved because of the fear that we cannot trust the judgment of another state. The commerce clause applies equally to the legality of marriage, the availability of health care, and the right of law abiding citizens to possess firearms.
Paul Mc says
David A. Porter,
This actually dealing with Article IV, Section 1; commonly referred to as the “Full Faith and Credit Clause”, not the commerce clause. This clause states, “Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.”
The Commerce Clause refers to Article 1, Section 8, which states, in part, “to regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes.”
The Supreme Court, for some reason, seems to have failed to give the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution the same weight as other sections, such as the commerce clause.
Anyways, have a nice day.

Perhaps they believe in a MAryland in which people are free to not live under the umbrella of religious tyranny and also believe the election maps are fair!
