Ummmm says
I think having a dental procedure would be more fun. I would know, I’m actually having one then!
Bob says
I wonder how many free government provided cell phones will be in use at this event?
jj johnson says
Kool-Aid will be served.
Bruce O'H. says
What!! No teleprompters allowed? Oh, this will be fun 🙂
Kharn says
It is, uhhh, unmarxist, er, I umm, mean unamerican, to not allow teleprompters during the, uhhh, debate.
I’ll watch it at home (I don’t like government cheese on stale crackers), but I bet the questions will amount to asking Obama what brand of golf clubs he likes and Romney why he hasn’t stopped beating his wife.
ALEX R says
And Wendy Rosen will be speaking on the importance of voting.
Mike Welsh says
She will be speaking on the “often” aspect of voting.
Otto Schmidlap says
At the end of the meeting, hotel profit will be split among Clarion, Quality Inn, Ramada, Red Roof Inn and others because it wouldn’t be fair for Holiday Inn to get to keep all it.
HYDESMANN says
Maybe we can all watch it on line with our free government (taxpayer) provided computers.
Kharn says
Watching it on a computer is so 2008. Use your Obamaphone.
Uncivil civillian says
I’m going to watch it on the tv I bought with the $300.00 G.W.Bush borrowed from China and gave to me, twice!
Meanwhile I’ll be texting on my free Obamaphone!
Both sides are to blame for this mess.
Stop playing holier than thou.
If you supported either one then you are complicit.
TSB says
LOL, Kharn, you crack me up. That was the funniest thing i have read in a while
DaggerDave says
I hear the Republicans are holding their own debate watch party. As a benefit of attending, Andy Harris will personally be Tea Bagging everyone.
Amazed says
Well that didn’t take long… everyone else was having fun.
David A. Porter says
Sure… just devoid of any regard for anyone else. That’s the way it is here. Express an opinion that is contrary to the popular and be smeared endlessly by people that don’t feel the need to get along with anyone different form them. I expect more. You should too.
B says
Pot, this is kettle.
Amazed says
So the tongue in cheek comments pertaining to Obamaphones, voting early and often, cheese and teleprompters equate to the implication that someone who isn’t even mentioned in the article will perform some deviant sex act on every stranger in a room. It doesn’t take any special talent to be crude and offensive.
Engineer says
Speaking of bags, you are the definition of a Scumbag.
volunteermom says
***Must Watch for all christians***
A friend shared this and I wish more would share!! Not only is this a great message to the black community but also for all women and the Jewish Community. We need to wake up and take our country back!!
Bruce O'H. says
There’s a strong and prevalent attitude on the Left that their political opponents are so evil, and have been so dehumanized in their minds, that there is no depth of vileness that is taboo to be used against them/us.
This attitude resides directly under the mask of “tolerance” and “kumbaya” that they project to the “masses”.
As their hold on power appears to be threatened, that mask slips, more and more often, to reveal the true nature of the Left.
It’s not pretty, is it?
David A. Porter says
I think it has more to do with your intense selfishness and lack of regard for the rights and views of others that strikes some of us as self interested, self preserving and asocial. Granted I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that singing “Kumbyah” in a circle will not protect us from your pointed rhetoric which serves no purpose except to marginalize people with which you vehemently disagree. Take it as you will, there is no disguising the hate in your words or your actions. You refuse to work with anyone and that is your failure, there are those of us that would like to work with you but are confronted by your unwillingness to compromise on anything that is not in your selfish interest.
Bruce O'H. says
So I respond to the vileness directed at my side, without vileness, and I’m the problem?
No, the fact that you justify, nor make any apology for that vileness, speaks volumes about YOU.
Why should I accept such treatment, then want to “compromise” with people who talk to me as the vile Left does? When compromise means that my views have no value, are denigrated, and that I must accept every tenet of the Left or be called vile names.
No, I think I’ll just work to defeat your side politically, so that it’s vileness, hate for God, country, and Constitution, can crawl back under the rocks that it slithered out from.
Do I hate the people that have been calling my side vile names for years now? No…but I have HAD IT with them, and tens of millions of others have had it with them too.
We’ll see who’s numbers prevail on Nov 6th.
Engineer says
“strikes some of us” Yes, both of you
Fed Up says
from Mr. Porter “there are those of us that would like to work with you but are confronted by your unwillingness to compromise on anything that is not in your selfish interest.” Are you kidding me? Obamacare. Was that the kind of compromise you were talking about? You see, hiding behind words like compromise is a joke. There is no compromise when one side of a discussion or argument defies all logic, reason, respect and yes, moral basis for their position. Those who would choose a root canal over this viewing opportunity are taking a stand politically and peacefully in an attempt to restore just a small part of common sense and constitutionality to our government. I too would line up for the root canal rather than listening to the lopsided boloney in a made for prime-time farce!
David A. Porter says
Draw your line in the sand. I’m fine with that. The way you are treated by Washington is no justification to paint everyone you disagree with – with the same brush. If your response to an idea is simply No, then you really are not contributing to an idea at all, but simply refusing to have anything to do with it. That is how you are characterized and if that is what you prefer – to be belligerent and uncooperative, I will not cross your line in the sand. And you can stand there and throw insults at me and I can respond in kind and we will get nowhere. Develop some introspection on how you contribute to the divide.
Bruce O'H. says
The Left made the divide. I’ve simply accepted it and am willing to take a stand for my beliefs and principles.
your opinion of that means nothing to me.
David A. Porter says
No you don’t Bruce… you foster the situation we are in. You got your “Elective War” which we waged “Off Budget” And if you thought that was a better investment than Heath Care for this nation I wonder exactly what are your priorities? It’s clear anytime anyone posts anything about Democrats you will rise to the occasion to express your considered and well thought out dissent.
Bruce O'H. says
I don’t appreciate you ascribing beliefs to me that you know nothing of. I was against Bush’s “pre-emptive” policy. For the record, I was also against his stimulus.
Also for the record, the Iraq war was a bi-partisan vote to proceed by Congress. That was forgotten and glossed over by the Left afterwards.
What’s your stand on Obama’s forays in Libya and Uganda? His arming of Al Quida to overthrow Assad. His assistance in giving them Egypt.
Carter gave the radical Islamists Iran, Obama gave them North Africa.
But you’re worried about my priorities. Take the post out of your own eye.
As for healthcare…The Left nationalizing one sixth of the U.S. economy was not about about compassion and healthcare…it was a power grab.
There will come a time when you will rue the day that you allowed yourself to be fooled by their lies if ObamaCare ends up standing as law.
But you, in your partisan hate, would rather believe that your fellow citizens are so callous and evil that they are against sick children getting healthcare. You see, thinking like that strokes your pitiful ego. It allows you to view yourself as a more compassionate, and superior, person. Unfortunately, you must remain ignorant of facts to accomplish that ego stroke, but that, obviously, doesn’t matter.
If you continue to take the lies of the Left as truth, you will continue to be part of the problem that America faces at this critical time in her history.
Uncivil civillian says
If you continue to believe the lies of the left and myths of the right then you are all the problem.
B says
Mr. Porter touts the virtues of compromise, yet supports a President who has proven to be incapable of such. The candidate who has been successful working with both parties is Mitt Romney, shown by his track record as governor.
Uncivil civillian says
Which is precisely why his own party will not turn out to elect him to the presidency.
compromise is dead
Bruce O'H. says
When the Left had a super majority, they laughed and mocked as they rolled over everyone, saying “we won”. They did not invite the minority leaders to the White House for the first 18 months of Obamas Presidency.
Once the Right gained control of the House, the Left started whining about no one being willing to compromise.
You can’t compromise with non-compromising snakes.
B says
Compromise is what got us into 16 trillion in debt. Why would you compromise when one side promotes fiscal insanity?
Uncivil civillian says
both sides promote fiscal insanity and that is the most insane part of all
Republicans are johnny come lately to the game of fiscal conservancy
your hero Reagan began the borrowing
your saviour Obama is just accelerating the trend
your all screwed
Uncivil civillian says
civil discourse in tandem with civil discontent that leads to resolute bipartisanship which begets civil war

Heather says
David for someone who calls for compassion and civility on your facebook page your sure spew your fair share of Hate Mongering on this site. David, perhaps you should practice what you preach!!!!
Here is a recent post by Mr. Porter via his facebook page.
“There are too many hate filled people in the world. I choose a path of compassion and am constantly challenged by people with so-called morals to marginalize and dismiss. I’m still wondering why anyone would call themselves a Christian that espouses treatment of another human being this way. You don’t have to worry about saving me or anyone I care for, I’m doing just fine…. if you feel this way, maybe you should see what you can do to save yourself”
David A. Porter says
Is what I said inconsistent with what I have stated here? Or are you just complaining that I lament about hate filled people? thanks for looking at my Facebook page. Please send me a note so I can Block you Heather with no last name.
Kharn says
I hope grief counselors are at the Holiday Inn. A lot of people are going to need a hug.
Beet says
I cannot wait to hear all of the excuses they will make on why their Glorious Chairman Mao-Bama got his clock cleaned.
The Money Tree says
Indeed…there are excuses aplenty and the general consensus seems to be it’s Mr. Lehrer’s fualt. Goes something like – if only Mr. Lehrer would have reacted the way journalists are expected to act – interrupting and interferring with Romney’s ability to speak none of this this Obama debacle would have occurred. Where oh where are the good in the tank journalists when you need them.
Paul Mc says
Lehrer tried to interrupt with Romney a number of times. Romney simply didn’t allow it.
The Money Tree says
I saw a bit of that but I think Romney established very early he was having none of it. Honestly had no idea that Romney had it in him – where’s this guy been? I was going to vote for him anyway as the much lessor of two evils, but now I actually think there might be more to this guy.
Bruce O'H. says
No teleprompter…I told you it was going to be fun 🙂
Smith says
There was only 23 people there. Not much of a party.
Bruce O'H. says
The thrill is gone…
Uncivil civillian says
I love watching people gleefully touting the better characteristics of candidates that wouldn’t give them the time of day in any normal circumstance.
These politicians will bend you over a barrel.
Better get ready.
Localguy says
If the question of who should be the Chief Executive settles to whom would spend more time in my backyard enjoying a barbeque dinner, then I’d argue our republic is in worse shape than I thought.
Uncivil, the problem with your alleged middle of the road angst against the two major parties lacks something altogether missing from the arguments by those of us truly in the ‘middle.’ It’s not the mere existence or policies of the major parties that I take issue with, but rather the sense of entitlement they have placed by formualting the rules to keep themselves in power. At the end fo the day I still look to either party to offer a candidate whose vision and philosophy would align most with my own.
In other words, you are a liberal or conservative, somewhere in between, or on the extreme ends of those monikers. Yet, that philosophical approach you do have will attract you to one or the other candidates, or none.
Having said that, the contest this year is a crucial one. What the country has needed for many years is leadership. It is still lacking. The Democrats can make no claim that they have attempted to foster bipartisanship in Washington since the days of their super-majority. That is a fact. I disagree with the Republican’s response to that policy with a simple statement of “no.” The past, though offering no promise of the future, does offer a glimpse of what is to come.
President Obama came to office with idealistic dreams of being some sort of reincarnation of FDR. He felt the country would carry forth the euphoria of “hope and change” to mean some sort of neo-New Deal that an ambitious 100 days or more would usher in a new age form of socialism. That was a hard sell even under the best of terms.
All this history, though, reflects that we are in need of “hope and change” again. The hope promised in 2008 has become empty promises not of “what could have been;” because there was nothing for two years standing between the President and his dreams other than the unpopularity of his policies within his own party. The change has become nothing short of spoils for the president’s supporters and campaign donors in the form of tax-payer subsidies.
Last night when I watched the debate I was hoping to hear something about philosophy, and I was treated to actually hear it. Listening to Gov. Romney did not turn me into a sychophant, but did reveal to me that he has a much better grasp on the situation than the President.
I’m not sure Romney can do a better job, and I feel at worst he could do as good a job as the incumbent. The beauty is that in four years he could be replaced if that turned out to be true. I’m now in favor of giving him that chance. Why? Because we indeed need “hope and change” and the man holding the office is not delivering or offering it.
Uncivil Civillian says
Vassillating between the two parties does not make you truly in the middle anymore than I am in the middle for believing neither party offers what is needed.
Call it angst or what have you, but the uneasy feeling I get while watching the debate stems from the fact that a great deal of damage can be done in only four years in the process of shoring up one party or the other’s interest in maintaining power.
Uncivil Civillian says
*Vacillating

Marc Eaton says
Al Gore of Current TV wins hands down for the best excuse made for President Obama. I guess debating Governor Romney is a little different the debating Senator McCain.
David A. Porter says
Marc, have you ever been in confrontation with a person that is a persistent and nearly pathological liar? I regularly meet with someone that would turn your stomach with the things they have done to other people – not violent but certainly verging on the criminally fraudulent. My unfortunate reaction to a person who has an inability to stay with one story for more than thirty seconds and continually changes their tune is one of shock. The most disturbing part to me is the way other people seem to let the lies continue without challenging them. So Marc, Mr Romney was pro-choice when he was governor of Massachusetts and he created Romneycare which is nearly identical in concept to Obamacare down to the Personal Mandate. When Mr Romney said he may not reduce taxes after he has been talking for fifteen months on the campaign trail about reducing them, I’m sure Mr Obama was as shocked as I am when I deal with someone that has a tenuous grasp on their reality. He truly is a Teflon Candidate.
Mike Welsh says
President Obama was anti gay marriage until he decided he was for gay marriage.
President Obama was for repealing the Bush tax cuts until he was for extending the Bush tax cuts, and did so in his first year in office.
President Obama was for pulling out one combat brigade per month from Iraq beginning the month he was sworn in thus having all 11 brigades out within the first year he was President. After taking office he followed the Bush withdrawal plan as had been negotiated in the Status Of Forces Agreement.
Mr. Romney is still for reducing the current tax rate by 20%, and stated that several times during the debate.
There is a distinct difference between being pro-choice, and being pro-life. It is possible to be both. I am.
Marc Eaton says
David I just like the excuse. As for Romney’s stance of abortion that is between him and the man upstairs. Republicans flip flop, democrats like Obama evolve. Obama evolved on gay marriage. It is all a word game. I do enjoy seeing the liberals and their liberal media imploding over this melt down of the the Obama campaign. This is like Carter and Reagan all over again.
Yes I have observed a pathological liar before, I have been doing so for the last three and a half years every time Obama speaks.
