The Harford County Department of Community Services Local Management Board presented 16 awards to nominated professionals, volunteers, and youth in the community who went above and beyond the call of duty to help children.
This year marks the Local Management Board’s second annual Champions for Children and Youth Ceremony. The program was developed to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who engage in direct service or serve as role models to children and the difference they make in our community. Catholic Charities, The Arc North Central Region, The Harford County Boys and Girls Club, the Office on Mental Health, and Meadow Wood Behavioral Health joined the Local Management Board this year to sponsor this celebration breakfast and ceremony.
This year’s awardees are: Fred Banks, the Program Director for the Maryland Conservation Jobs Corps; Phil Givens and Jon Williams, owners of P & J Life Skills; Karen Hagerman and Margaret Polischeck, Children’s Librarians of the Harford County Public Library; Tyler Liggins, a student at Aberdeen High School; Matt Wagner, recent graduate of the John Carroll School; Julia Kirk, a student at Kennedy Krieger High School; Terry Troy, Vice President of Operations for the Greater Excellence in Education Foundation; Dr. Paul Lomonico, Pediatric Partners; Sue Rattman, Resource and Benefits Coordinator at the Arc; Pastor Al Reeves, Director of the boys 2 MEN Mentoring Program; Robert Testudine, Case Manager of the Department of Juvenile Services; Ray Leonard, Service Coordinator of the Harford County Infants and Toddler Program; Angela Gray, Senior Program Coordinator for Alliance, Inc.; and Kim Parks-Bourn, Harford County Department of Community Services Local Management Board Coordinator.
