It’s as much the fault of Winters Run Golf Club as it is the developers this time. Seems like a way to collect money to improve the golf club is to tear down the oldest still standing structure in the county. It was built in what was probably nearly wilderness in the late 1600s. Predating the war for independence by nearly a century – predating the construction of Monticello by almost 90 years, predating the construction of the White House by 103 years…Hayes House wasn’t there, Medical Hall, nor anything in Havre de Grace. Who gives a crap burn it – it’s in the way.

Just for the sake of clarity it’s the little blue house right near the entrance of the golf club – built by hand by hard scappers who worked a life from the bare ground – that location served as a tenant farm right up until it was bought by the golf club. Had it not been for the luck of the little house being basically adjacent to the land fill it was have been deep sixed long before but it was a very lucky house in that way up and until somebody smelled a windfall. I would suggest to the owners of the club that eliminating the barn and oldest building in the county will make the entry to the golf club move from lovely and bucolic to just another hideous bunch of crappy houses. That’ll help sell the club for sure. I wonder what goes through the mind of the person that takes a bulldozer to an irreplaceable piece of history.

Do us all a favor if you love it so much. Pull out your check book and buy it, then you can do what ever you wish with it. And as an added benefit it will shut you up, which god knows isn’t an easy task.

For the love, put a traffic circle at Box Hill and Woodsdale.
