From The Liriodendron Foundation, Inc.:
The Art Gallery of the Liriodendron Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce an art exhibit of the works of Liz Arango-Howshall and Alison Comoglio-Santos during the month of August at the Liriodendron Mansion located at 502 W. Gordon Street, Bel Air, MD 21014. A reception with the artists will be open to the public on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Sundays from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Liz Arango-Howshall is a contemporary impressionistic painter. Her artwork is a blend of impressionism and realism. “My experimentation with medium and supports is evident in my Gyotaku work. I have a consuming passion for the Japanese art of making fish prints on delicate rice papers. It enables me to work directly with nature. India inks and watercolor washes are the primary medium I use for this technique.” Arango-Howshall is the owner of The Art Rooms Professional Art Supplies in Havre de Grace where she offers art lessons for adults and children.
Alison Comoglio-Santos holds a Masters Degree in Education from Towson University and teaches art in Harford County. “Through a juxtaposition of textile patterns, my body of art entitled “Sociology of Women” examines the roles and attributes of women in society. Each piece was created using intricate color schemes and shapes inspired from textiles around the world. These patterns embrace and represent the many aspects of a woman.”
The Liriodendron Gallery Committee provides visitors with a view of the current artists or retrospectives of past artisans from Harford County as well as showcase performing artists at the Liriodendron through grant monies obtained from the Harford County Cultural Advisory Committee and other benefactors.
