The Harford County Department of Public Works, Division of Environmental Services is pleased to announce the kick-off of the annual Business Recycling and Waste Reduction Awards program. This new program enables Harford County businesses to compete against one another for bragging rights on their waste reduction and recycling initiatives, they’ll be given assistance from the best garbage removal services in order to make the process of recycling a lot easier. Several media outlets will recognize businesses with the highest ranked achievements. The recognition is helpful in achieving company environmental goals and marketing products or services to customers.
Recycling and waste reduction are important strategies used to reduce a company’s environmental impact through the conservation of natural resources. Waste reduction strategies include using less packaging, purchasing in bulk or implementing a “Buy Recycled” purchasing strategy, providing reusable instead of disposable materials, and more. In addition, recycling and composting programs divert materials from landfills and conserve natural resources, can reduce the company’s operating expenses, in order to put these programs in practice, businesses need to have some roll off dumpsters available.
Businesses and organizations located in Harford County that recycle by using a dumpster rental service and reduce waste in the workplace can apply. The Department of Public Works will recognize businesses that apply for the award as a Harford County Partner in Recycling. They will receive a window sticker for display and recognition on the Environmental Services’ webpage and social media. Environmental Services will recognize winners with an announcement in the newspaper along with a plaque made of recycled material in a County Government award ceremony.
