From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[October 15, 2014, Bel Air, MD] At 7:20 pm, on October 9, 2014, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted to an alleged bomb threat on the social media site, YikYak.
After taking the report from a concerned citizen, deputies immediately informed Harford County Public Schools of a potential threat to C. Milton Wright High School, in Bel Air. During the evening hours, deputies and school personnel checked the school and found nothing suspicious. Deputies conducted a second search on the morning of October 10, 2014, and again found no threat to the school, teachers, or students. Additional personnel from both agencies were on site as students entered the building to start the school day.
Continued investigation into this incident led detectives to the 800 block of Hayden Way in Bel Air. The suspect was later identified as Lydia Capirichio, age 19, of the same address. On October 14, 2014 the case was presented to the Grand Jury and Capirichio was indicted on charges of False Statement-Destructive Device and Disturbing School operations.
At this time, it has been determined that the threat was posted as a hoax. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats to community safety seriously and will take necessary steps to investigate any similar incidents.
Sheriff Bane offered, “I applauded the work of the community to bring this incident to a safe resolution. In this case, everything went right; from the concerned citizen who reported the threat, to the swift and coordinated efforts of the deputies and Harford County Public Schools ensuring our schools remain safe and secure.”
