Fire officials are continuing to investigate a blaze which seriously damaged an Edgewood home Friday afternoon.
The fire was reported by a passerby at a home in the 400 block of Edgewood Road in Edgewood just before 2 p.m. Friday, according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. A total of 25 firefighters from the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Abingdon, Bel Air, and Joppa-Magnolia fire companies brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes.
The fire was contained to the master bedroom of the home, but the structure sustained extensive smoke, soot, heat and water damage, the State Fire Marshal’s Office said. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Damage to the home was estimated at $100,000, while damages to its contents were estimated at $25,000.
The occupants of the home, including two adults and three children, were displaced and will be assisted by friends and family.
