From Havre de Grace Housing Authority:
Area businesses, churches and government agencies are invited to attend the 2nd annual Havre de Grace Housing Authority (HDGHA) Spring Open House and Friendraiser on Thursday, May 14. The event is designed to build awareness of the organization and its mission while also forging community partnerships to increase its volunteer base and promote sponsorships of HDGHA resident programs.
The Open House and Friendraiser will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at HDGHA’s Somerset Manor community located at 101 Stansbury Court, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Guests can tour the neighborhood and attend a resident forum where they can hear firsthand from participating families and individuals about the impact HDGHA programs have had on their lives. Refreshments will also be provided.
HDGHA Family Self-Sufficiency Program Coordinator Ann Chealey says, “HDGHA is meant to be a beacon of hope for low income families, and a stepping stone for them on their journey to independence. The classes, seminars, and training available for both youth and adults help them to ultimately become positive, productive members of our community.” She adds, “Our annual Open House is a way to say thank you to our existing sponsors and showcase the success of the programs their support has provided, while adding other businesses and agencies to our list of partners so we can enhance and expand our offerings.”

Great program!!! It’s a shame that it hasn’t helped those few residents move on to real homes. They’ll be out there for the rest of their lives…

If the residents would get an education, they could get a good paying job and help themselves. Quit living off the government teat
