NEWS FROM THE DEER CREEK COFFEEHOUSE
April’s Performers –The Don Juans (Jon Vezner & Don Henry)
On Friday, April 10 at 7:30 pm Deer Creek Coffeehouse welcomes back Grammy award-winning song writer, Jon Vezner, this time with his Grammy award-winning songwriting partner, Don Henry. Vezner & Henry were honored with a Grammy for “Best Country Song” and the Nashville Songwriters Association “Song of the Year” in 1990, for “Where’ve You Been”, the true story of Vezner’s grandparents; the song was recorded by Kathy Mattea (Vezner’s wife).
Vezner is a tunesmith of rare sensitivity and dry wit. His catalogue of recorded songs, topped by the poignant “Where’ve You Been,” reflects his straight-to-the heart sensibility and emotional awareness. Vezner weaves the particulars of his own feelings with the lives of people he has known into universal themes that deeply touch listeners’ emotions. His songs have been recorded by a varied list of artists such as Martina McBride, Janis Ian, John Mellencamp, Nancy Griffith, Faith Hill, Clay Walker, Diamond Rio and Kathy Mattea. www.jonvezner.com
Henry’s songs have been recorded by artists such as Ray Charles, Patti Page, Conway Twitty, Gene Watson, John Conlee, B.J. Thomas, Blake Shelton, Lonestar and Miranda Lambert. In 2014 Miranda Lambert’s great version of “All Kinds of Kind”, written by Henry and Phillip Coleman, was a top 15 song on the Billboard County charts and won Music Row Magazine’s Song of the Year. www.donhenry.com

NEWS FROM: Delmarva Power Warns Wire Thieves to Avoid Taking Deadly Chance
Newark, Del. – Delmarva Power reminds the public of the dangers associated with attempting to steal copper and other wire from the company’s lines, substations and equipment yards.
The theft of copper and wire from utility lines and electrical equipment is a crime. Additionally, wire theft can be life threatening to those trying to remove it, and can endanger others by leaving an unsafe condition. If ground wires are stolen or fences cut that expose dangerous electrical equipment, anyone near the area could accidently get injured or killed. Safety is a core value at Delmarva Power. We are concerned for our employees’ safety and the safety of our customers.
Altering the lines also impairs the reliability of the electric distribution system. Customers could experience uneven voltage, which can cause power outages and damage to electronic equipment and light bulbs.
Theft of company materials means that Delmarva Power crews must spend many hours repairing equipment, safeguarding facilities and replacing stolen wire. The repair and replacement cost of damaged equipment far exceeds the scrap value received for the wire. The costs of replacing and repairing damaged equipment are borne by all Delmarva Power customers in much the same way that theft in department and grocery stores affects the price of goods.
Anyone stealing materials from Delmarva Power property and scrap dealers who knowingly purchase these materials will be subject to criminal charges. Delmarva Power is asking for the public’s help before someone is seriously injured or the electric system is undermined by these illegal actions.
Anyone with information about electric utility copper or wire theft is encouraged to call Delmarva Power 24/7 at: 1-866-705-HELP or contact your local authorities.

The final match held at 6:00pm will be between Maryland State Police Cadets and Maryland State Police Troopers. The Games will take place at the Cecil Arena, 2706 Northeast Road, Northeast, MD. HEALTH DEPARTMENT EXTENDS HOURS OF VITAL RECORDS OFFICE
Bel Air, MD – February 11, 2015— The Harford County Health Department announces it is extending the hours of operation of its Vital Records office. Beginning March 2nd, the Vital Records office will be open from 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

RELEASE OF 2015 ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON FOUNDATION COUNTY HEALTH RANKINGS
Bel Air, MD – March 26, 2015 – The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has announced the release of its 2015 national County Health Rankings report. The rankings, now in their sixth year, are broken down into two major categories: health outcomes and health factors, each of which represents a weighted summary of various measures. An overview of the findings reflects health status in Harford remains stable.
Harford again ranked sixth in the state with respect to health factors, representing what influences the health of the county, while also maintaining its rank of tenth among the 24 jurisdictions throughout Maryland in health outcomes, representing how healthy a county is. The county ranked seventh overall with respect to length of life, where rates of premature death were significantly lower than the state average and are trending favorably toward even lower rates.
HARFORD COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS PUBLIC HEALTH ACCREDITATION
Bel Air, MD – March 9, 2015 — The Harford County Health Department received formal notification on March 4th that it has achieved the coveted national accreditation status from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The decision brings the number of governmental public health departments now accredited by PHAB to 67 among more than 3,000 eligible state, local and territorial public health agencies throughout the country.
Serving the current county population of nearly 250,000, the Harford County Health Department (HCHD) becomes one of only four health jurisdictions in Maryland to achieve national accreditation status through PHAB. Harford joins Frederick and Worcester counties that learned of their accreditation in December, along with Allegany County that also was included among the most recent list of those receiving accreditation.
To learn more about PHAB visit www.phaboard.org or the Health Department’s website at www.harfordcountyhealth.com.
