From Harford County government:
The Harford County Department of Community Services Local Management Board presented Champions for Children and Youth Awards yesterday to 22 nominated professionals, volunteers, and youth in the community who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help children. This year marks the third annual awards ceremony recognizing the hard work and dedication of those who engage in direct service or serve as role models to children, and the difference they make in our community.
Catholic Charities, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, the Harford County Boys and Girls Club, the Harford County Department of Social Services, the Office on Mental Health, Harford Community College, Vincenti Decoys, and MeadowWood Behavioral Health joined the Local Management Board this year to sponsor this celebration breakfast and ceremony.
This year’s awardees are: Katy Battani, outreach coordinator for the Harford County Health Department; The Honorable William Carr, Circuit Court judge and former administrative judge for Harford County; Erric Hetzer, owner and therapist for OIC Counseling; Bangtam Miller, assistant principal for Deerfield Elementary School; Adaria Hathaway, academic success coach for Harford Community College; Jennifer Spencer, academic success coach for Harford Community College; Sharoll Williams-Love, diversity specialist for Harford Community College; Maureen McKinley, supervisor for the Harford County Department of Social Services; Jamie Miller, interim deputy director for the Office on Mental Health; Kyle Cicone, student at Harford Technical High School; Zhane Hawkins, student at The Color Lab; Cassie King, student at Harford Technical High School; Benjamin Mayforth, student at the University of Missouri; Anastasia Andrews and Daniel White, who call themselves the “Out of the Box Coupon Kids”, from Hall’s Crossroads Elementary School; Marlene Lieb, Harford County Department of Social Services Advisory Board member and former foster parent; adult mentors to Harford County’s Teen Court, Mike Barnett, Wayne Dudeck, Roberta Perkins, and Gene Wlock; Rachel Caulker and Francis Coker, treatment foster parents for The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region.
