From the Aberdeen Police Department:
The Aberdeen Police Department Traffic Unit and Patrol Officers conducted a Labor Day Weekend traffic enforcement initiative. The initiative was aimed at keeping the streets of Aberdeen safe for drivers and pedestrians during the “unofficial end of summer”. The enforcement focused on aggressive driving and impaired driving and ran from September 4th through September 7th.
During this initiative, over 200 vehicles were stopped resulting in three arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol. There was also a drug related arrest for Possession of Cocaine, and 1 Civil Citation issued for Possession of Marijuana less than 10grams. One uninsured motorist and 2 unlicensed drivers were also cited.
There were zero injury related traffic collisions during the extended holiday weekend. The Aberdeen Police Department believes that their focused initiative helped play a role in a safe weekend for both the citizens of Aberdeen and visitors to the city.
Smells Funny says
These “press releases” read (to me) like all other days besides a “traffic enforcement initiative” is lax, uneneforced, whatever.
Why not make everyday a traffic enforcement initiative? Especially with all the construction, crews and equipment creepin’ around Aberdump’s roads.
So, extra man power to “run traffic harder”? Is that what this was? Or/also whoever was ” on duty” told to cut no slack?
Gotta’ give credit where its due, this sure Seels like a better effort than a 152 DUI checkpoint.
