From the Harford County Public Library:
“Charm City Sundays” at the Library closes out the year with a visit from Rob Kasper, co-author of “Baltimore Baseball & Barbecue with Boog Powell: Stories from the Orioles Smokey Slugger.” Released in July, Kasper, who also wrote “Baltimore Beer,” has joined forces with Boog Powell, a former Orioles first baseman and owner of Boog’s BBQ for a behind-the-scenes look at the life of Boogs from his Florida boyhood through his rise to major-league glory and beyond.
Rob Kasper was a reporter, columnist and editorial writer for the Baltimore Sun, often writing about the area’s food and drink. The Association of Food Journalists cited his 2008 food columns as among the best in American and Canadian newspapers. His interest in local history and Baltimore brewers led him in 2009 to become a founding member of Baltimore Beer Week, a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the area’s brewing culture. Kasper’s first book “Baltimore Beer” was released in 2012.
The program starts at 2pm this Sunday the 13th at the Jarrettsville Library. Books will be available for purchase and signing. There will be a limited amount of books pre-signed by Boogs Powell as well. For more information, please contact the Jarrettsville Library or go to HCPLonline.org.
