From the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society:
Three Harford County students were able to help raise $200,141 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in this year’s Student of the Year Campaign. Among these three students include Sierra Smith from Aberdeen High School, Taylor Sommer from John Carroll, and Christina Vardavas from Fallston High School. These three students, along with ten others from other Maryland high schools, committed to a six week fundraiser in order to aid in the mission of LLS to end blood cancer.
Each student designed their individual campaigns and was in charge of their own fundraisers to reach their goal with the help of their teammates and staff members from LLS.
The dedication from these students allowed the campaign to raise record raking numbers which were announced on March 11 at the Grand Finale Gala. DJ Kruz from 104.3 and iHeart radio was the Master of Ceremonies to help honor and recognize these students.
Sierra Smith was also the recipient of the Mission Citizenship Award for spreading the word of LLS and getting others involved with the organization.
Thanks to these three individuals, more patients now have access to life saving treatments, helping make someday today.
