From Harford County government:
Harford County Executive Barry Glassman’s administration will receive grants totaling $492,000 requested from the state of Maryland’s Waterway Improvement Fund to enhance recreational boating opportunities in Joppatowne. In a May 27 letter to County Executive Glassman, Gov. Larry Hogan announced the state grants, which will be available on July 1, 2016, for county government to complete the following projects:
· $350,000 for maintenance dredging of the existing channel in the Gunpowder River
· $100,000 for dredging the channel upstream of the Taylor Creek public boat launch at Mariner Point Park
· $42,500 for dredging to restore boating access to Foster Branch headwaters in Joppatowne, with matching funds from county government
“I would like to thank Gov. Larry Hogan, the Harford County Delegation and the Maryland General Assembly for granting my administration’s request for funding to enhance recreational opportunities and boating safety in Joppatowne,” said County Executive Glassman. “In addition to the economic benefits, improving public access to our waterways allows our citizens to enjoy the natural wonders of our beautiful county and state.”

Please tell me this was paid for with boat registration funds, and not my money.
W.T.F.? says
Agreed, but this amount of pork probably came out of the general fund.
Those “fancy folks” really need to get their yachts to their waterfront properties!
Either way, it certainly smells like politics to me….
Meh says
This slick for the fund says it’s from a 5% tax levied as each boat is titled. At least there’s reasonable matching going on — that’s more than we usually get.

There’s no potholes on the water
Fart and smell it says
No but some Political or Developer has to get their big boat down the channel there without running aground
Fart and smell it says
Too bad they couldn’t have done this when that nice big Marina was there.
What politician is moving to those waterfront condos in J-towne?
