NEWS
I just returned from the winter meeting of the Maryland Association of Counties. It was three days packed full of study and recognition.
I was a presenter this year for the best attended session. More than 70 elected officials and county office workers attended the class “Active Shooter”. Senior Deputy First Class Tom Wehrle of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, kept the audience focused on survival in the work place should they be confronted by a disgruntled citizen or just an unstable individual bent on confrontation in the political workplace.
Other sessions included the heroin epidemic, public safety in a changing world, updates from MACo for the next session of the Legislature in Annapolis, School Funding, Large County Coalition, Preparing for emergencies and how to obtain the proper help from the National Guard, and the future of Solar energy. These sessions keep your elected and appointed county officials up to date and those not attending truly short change their constituents.
And Finally: It is with a deep sense of personal loss that I tell you of the passing of B Ruth Foard. Miss Foard passed away last Thursday. Ruth Foard was the lady behind the success of “LUTZ’S APPLIANCE” store in down town Bel Air. Miss Foard was 96 and was made a HARFORD LIVING TREASURE in 2015.
I guess that is all from my desk today… Time to go Christmas shopping. Oh, anyone who wants my list of sizes can call Debbie.. I’m partial to navy blue for sweaters, and I like preppy regimental stripe ties.

All good stuff here. Thanks Capt’n!
Captain Crunch says
Too bad you haven’t given the deputies a decent raise in almost 10 years. Keep up the good work
A D Plorable says
Crunch, The council gave themselves a nice fat raise though. Council Lives Matter.
