Longtime Harford County Councilwoman Veronica “Roni” Chenowith has died, according to a colleague on the county council.
Mrs. Chenowith, who represented Fallston and Emmorton since 1994, had been battling cancer for several years.
The following information has been confirmed for Mrs. Chenowith’s services:
Visitation: Sunday March 29 and Monday March 30 from 4pm-9pm each day
Where: Mountain Christian Church, 1824 Mountain Rd., Joppa, Md. 21085
Services will be held Tuesday March 31 at 11am.

Harford County Council member and community leader Veronica “Roni” Chenowith died on Tuesday, March 24 after a hard fought battle with leukemia. She was 70 years old.
“Roni was a very special lady. Her passion for her community and her love of children and youth were unparalleled,” said her husband of 48 years, Joseph Chenowith. “I could not have asked for a better partner in life and business.”

Joanne S. Parrott, a former state delegate and Harford County Council President, died in her home Wednesday at the age of 68.
The cause of death remains unknown. All Harford County flags will be flown at half staff until after her funeral.

Leo A. Hoshal, age 86, of Bel Air, MD, died January 21, 2009 at his caretaker’s home. Born in Marble, Minnesota, he was the son of the late William S. and Stella Provost Hoshal. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving our country during WWII with his three brothers and father. A very hard working and energetic man, he had a lifelong dedication to his mother, Stella, who passed away in 1991.
His many jobs included, route salesman for Charles Potato Chips, the colorful manager of the Bel Air Theatre, and Bel Air Locksmith, which he started on Main Street in 1969. A member of St. Margaret Catholic Church for over 45 years, he was bestowed, by the County Council, as a Harford County Living Treasure in 2005.

J. Robert Hooper, the former state senator representing the northern portions of Harford County, died last night at his home in Street after a long battle with cancer.
Hooper was owner and operator of Harford Sanitation Services and a former Harford County councilman who resigned from his state senate seat last month because of his failing health.
Around the county he was beloved for his homegrown demeanor and generosity. Hooper was known as a friend of the farmer and pushed for agricultural preservation and environmental measures, yet also understood the concerns and issues of small business owners.
