The Art Rooms Professional Art Supplies third annual fundraising event that benefits Harford County Humane Society is underway! This program is judged by Harford Community College Art Department.
Three winners will be selected and will win wonderful art materials gift baskets and/or in-store gift certificates. After the judging of studio hardwoood manikins the public is invited to attend “The Town Goes to the Dogs & Cats 2010″ art reception. The public has the opportunity to purchase these inexpesive one of kind works of art. All proceeds of this programs benefit our local humane society.
The goal is to raised money to help the dogs and cats sheltered at the Harford County Humane Society. Last year The Art Rooms benefit gathered over $700.00 for our local humane society. Bel Air, MD (February 24, 2010) Don’t miss the March 12th deadline to apply for the Harford’s Got Talent competition. The competition is open to individual performers and group performers (up to 15 people), and visual artists, age 13 and older who live, work, perform or study regularly in Harford County or who have done so in the past.
The 10 – 12 finalists will be determined by the end of March after auditions. There will be a $1,500 performing award and a $500 visual arts award. Performers will be judged on artistic expression, choice of materials, level of difficulty, technical ability, presentation, stage presence, and charisma. Visual artists will be judged on subject, choice of materials, use of media, technical ability, presentation, and artistic excellence.

The Reginald F. Lewis Museum, in partnership with the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA), recently announced the winners of its Second Annual Maryland Statewide High School Juried Art Show whose artwork will be showcased at the museum from January 17th to February 28th to commemorate the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The exhibition will feature works by young artists from several regions across the state which include Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Prince George’s counties.
Out of 60 entries submitted for this competition, 18 finalists’ pieces were selected to be featured in the show. Bel Air, MD (December 8, 2009) – Patti Dresher won the Judge’s Choice and Top Fundraiser Awards at the 2nd Annual “Dancing for the Arts” Gala to benefit the Center for the Arts. She danced with Tom Rzepnicki, co-owner of Dancing with Friends, and wowed the judges with her interpretive dance. In addition, she won the Top Fundraiser Award by raising over $7,800 for the Center for the Arts. Patti is a personal trainer at the Arena Club. The gala raised $99,630 and 276 guests attended the event on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Residents’ Club at Bulle Rock. Last year, the gala raised $75,000. The Honorary Chair of the gala was Community Volunteer Betty Ward. Betty was the winner of the Top Fundraising Award and the People’s Choice Award at the “Dancing for the Arts 2008” Gala.

Bel Air, MD – September 10, 2009 – Harford Cable Network is sponsoring a design contest for a new station logo. The contest is open to the public. Logo guidelines are:
- The logo must include “Harford Cable Network” somewhere in the design.
- The logo must be submitted as a high resolution .eps or .pdf file, with all fonts outlined.
- All entries must include the name, address, phone number and email address of the contestant.
- The logo must be submitted by email to: hcn@harfordcountymd.gov.
- The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 5:00pm.
- The entry must be an original design, and not a copy that may be subject to copyright laws.
- All entries will be judged on creativity, originality, aesthetics, use of space and color, and appropriateness for use on television.

C. Milton Wright’s Jourdan Stallknecht was selected as a state finalist in the 2009 Doodle4Google competition. Jourdan was one of 400 students selected from more than 28,000 entries nationwide.
The 400 doodles from across the country were chosen by a panel of independent judges and Google employees based on which doodles they felt best represented the “What I Wish for the World” theme.
In each state, two doodles were selected in each grade group. Jourdan’s doodle was selected for the Maryland/DC entries for the 10th-12th grade group.
