Tax Assessments, Driver’s Licenses, Ag Centers, HAZMAT Benefits; Focus of Latest Legislative Wave

The entirety of Harford County’s delegation to the Maryland General Assembly has signed on to co-sponsor a bill aimed at reviewing state property tax assessment procedures, the assessment appeals process, and producing a report on those findings by 2011.

House Bill 204, which is sponsored by Del. Wayne Norman and co-sponsored by the remainder of the Harford delegation – Dels. Rick Impallaria, Mary-Dulany James, J.B. Jennings, Susan McComas, Pat McDonough, Dan Riley, and Donna Stifler, would establish “a Task Force to Review Property Tax Assessment Procedure and the Assessment Appeals Process; establishing the composition of the Task Force; requiring the Governor to designate the chair of the Task Force; providing for the staffing for the Task Force; prohibiting a member of the Task Force from receiving specified compensation; requiring that the Task Force issue a report by January 1, 2011; and providing for the termination of the Act.”

Del. McDonough: “Illegal Alien Golden Age”

The following was received from the office of Del. Pat McDonough:

As an illegal alien, already residing in the United States, or someone planning to come here unauthorized, your future prospects have increased dramatically. Although George Bush dropped the ball on the issue of illegals and damaged our nation in many ways with the arrival of almost 20 million now living in America, his defective leadership on this issue pales in comparison to what President Obama has planned. When the voters sent Mr. Obama to the White House, they had little knowledge of his amnesty philosophy related to illegal immigration. Mr. Obama, his opponent John McCain, and the national news media conspired to remove the issue of illegal immigration from the spotlight during the 2008 Presidential election. This troubling issue, which so many Americans continue to be concerned about, mysteriously disappeared from the national debates.

Del. McDonough: 2009 Driver’s Licenses For Illegals Post-Vote

The following was received from the office of Del. Pat McDonough:

Annapolis is filled with love! Of course, as I have said before, love in all of the wrong places. Illegal aliens are receiving their usual share of strong support for drivers’ licenses from the same old cast of characters.

The Judiciary Committee Chairman, Joe Vallario, and his allies, at the last minute, cleverly cobbled together a phony driver’s license bill that promoted amnesty for the 212,000 illegals in our state who presently possess Maryland drivers’ licenses. The original bill that entered Vallario’s committee was clean and did not have amnesty language. The bill was de-constructed and transformed into the present version which passed the House of Delegates by a vote of 77 to 60.

More than 60 members of the House, including myself, who were co-sponsors of the original, honest piece of legislation, removed themselves from the corrupted ...Continue Reading

Annapolis Update # 7 – ALERT – Driver’s Licenses for Illegal Aliens – March 30, 2009

This email was sent from the office of Del. Rick Impallaria:

House Bill 387 – Vehicle Laws – Lawful Status in the United States – Material Compliance with Federal Requirements

I thought Annapolis had hit its all-time low for passing the death penalty bill, but unfortunately on Friday night they managed to break their own record. A bill sponsored by Delegate Ron George of Anne Arundel Co. and Delegate Jim Malone of Baltimore Co., with over 60 other sponsors, was intended to bring Maryland into compliance with the Real ID Act and to prevent illegal aliens from receiving driver’s licenses. What’s wrong with that, you ask. Well, the Judiciary Committee, whom we refer to as “lawmakers for lawbreakers” and the “criminal advocate society” amended the bill from its original purpose and created a bill guaranteeing that illegal aliens will receive driver’s licenses, along with the right to vote.

License to Immigrate: Maryland tries to comply with Real ID Act

The Dagger | Harford County News With an Edge: Latest post

It looks like Gov. Martin O’Malley has backed off a proposal to implement a two-tier system of driver’s licenses in Maryland that would have created one license for documented, legal citizens and another identification card for undocumented, illegal immigrants.

Instead, the state will implement a system by 2010 complying with the federal Real ID standards requiring proof of citizenship prior to issuance of a driver’s license. Once in place, anyone applying for a driver’s license in Maryland will need to produce a birth certificate, Social Security card, passport or other valid forms of identification available only to citizens of America.
