(Bel Air, MD) – - Verizon began installation of their FTTP (Fiber To The Property) Project in the Harford County Road Right-of-Ways in March 2009. In 2009, Verizon installed over 178 miles of FTTP and is now permitted to connect over 18,000 customers to Verizon FiOS. Verizon will continue construction in the Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood, and Winters Run Wire Centers in 2010.
The 2010 Verizon FTTP / FiOS Project will be slightly less aggressive due to the economy, with just under 90 miles of new construction planned. Communities currently under construction will be completed and construction will then expand to the Edgewood and Winters Run Wire Center which will involve some Abingdon, Edgewood and Joppa communities in the next few years.
As each area of construction is completed, Verizon will begin installing their FiOS (Residential Connections) in areas which are available for service, as their schedule allows.

Since the Olympics are in full swing this week, I figured people might be interested in getting past the hump by watching something Olympics related. Here is an old Monty Python video making fun of the Olympics by coming up with ridiculous events. After watching sports like beach volleyball, it makes me wish that some of these were real. Especially the swimming event for non-swimmers.
After watching this, what crazy events would you like to see in the Olympics? And no, don’t say badminton, because it’s already an Olympic sport. It’s just never televised.
“Has hell finally frozen over?” That was my first thought when visiting the City of Aberdeen’s new web site. Of course that may be due to being presented with a header graphic depicting a snow-covered evergreen with Aberdeen’s new slogan, “The Future of Harford”, perhaps a final bit a legacy from the city’s previous mayor.
As promised by the current administration in its transition report, Aberdeen has a fancy new home page. It certainly is a departure from the city’s previous attempts at entering this brave new world. Before we get to the highlights and lowlights of the new site, let’s take a trip down memory lane…
