Fighting Owls Women’s Tennis On A Roll, Winning Six Straight

ST. MARY’S CITY, Md.—The Harford women’s tennis team won its sixth straight match as the Fighting Owls (6-0) downed NCAA Division III opponent St. Mary’s, 7-2, on Friday afternoon in St. Mary’s City.

Freshmen Kate Tiburzi (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Kelsey Strine (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood) remain perfect on the season after taking individual victories at No. 5 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while the No. 1 doubles team of freshman Ashley Sherinsky (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and sophomore Katrina Tiedeman (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) took their first dual match loss.

Tiburzi rallied from a one set deficit to defeat Jerilyn Rogalski, 6-7 (1-7), 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 5 spot, while Strine also endured a three-set match to take the No. 4 win against Katie Lackler, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5.

Tiburzi also teamed with sophomore Julie Strong (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) at No. 3 doubles and moved to 5-0 on the season with an ...Continue Reading

Wow…just wow. And this was an upgrade over their old design, which they still make available in case their readers are feeling nostalgic.

To their credit, they are at least attempting to produce an RSS feed for their site, even though it doesn’t work. That’s more than we can say about some other local papers…
