greasey bastard…got off easy…trying to kill himself is fine with me, taking out innocent people, wife and child, no way he should not be confined for 25 years…and serve every day of it…
one day, when he sees the light of day on the streets, someone, somewhere will knock the hell out of him…and anyone who defends the worthless piece of trash
vietnam vet says
Your Right Hiram. it’s the legal luxury of admitting Guilt. under a plea bargain when it’s apparent & no doubt he was Guilty. he’s setting back laughing.
Delegate B. Dan Riley says
Does anyone remember the book and movie, I think it was called “Star Chamber”?
RichieC says
Dan I remember that one.
RichieC says
This guy will serve 18 mos. Cocaine crazed guy kills two…18 mos. Maybe he can get his teeth fixed, a degree, some good medical care, and I’m sure his probation officer will help him find a real good job afterwards.
Its the cocaine and the rapid sequence of the two accidents that bothers me. It should have been 2×10 years ..1 hour suspended….and consecutively…not concurrently. Is He still in jail? ….. That’s time already served!
Who was the Judge? Why so lenient…was it the fact that hes a drug addict…or that he had recently been in an accident and was traumatized.
Go Dagger!
RichieC says
Dan…just now got what you meant……although expressing it is against my better judgement…I AGREE !!!
Is it possible for a sentence to be appealed…by the states attorney? Mr Cassilley…this is a Job for you !
Once again…why so lenient?
Go Dagger !
Sad says
HI Ritchie!!! Just asked where you were
RichieC says
Sad I’m always watching…like the gingerbread man…
I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE GUY WHO SHOT HIS X GIRLS BOYFRIEND GOT 50 YEARS…AND THIS CREEP…WHO HAD AN ACCIDENT JUST HOURS EARLIER…GOT DEFACTO 18 MOS FOR TWO INNOCENTS LIVES.
WHO ARE THE JUDGES IN THESE TWO CASES….WHY THE DIFFERANCE IN SENTANCES…SOMONE TELL ME.
Go Dagger !
Justice? says
I agree this guy should have been locked up for the full sentence…no dismissing of any of the time…
The only good thing this guy did was plead guilty. And yeah he’s an addict obviously, and will probably always be one, but that’s no excuse for killing anyone else in a car accident or by any other means. He chose to use that day and get behind the wheel. And did anyone ever hear anything about the vehicle he was driving…they say it was his employers vehicle. That’s all the more reason for drug testing…and just not at hiring time but surprise drug tests randomly.
I saw the husband and father of the victims on an interview after the sentencing and I feel really bad for him. He doesn’t remember much of what happened and said there is no room in his life for bitterness…he has a son to raise and that has to be his focus. God bless him and I hope he is able to someday have a normal life again.

I knew this loser in High School. He was no good then always on some drug and obviously never improved. My heart breaks for the family of the victims. I wish justice will be served somehow.
Bruce Garner says
Dan Riley,
Liked your statement referencing Star Chamber, great movie. Hal Holdbrook &
Martin Sheen, not a bad idea for true justice. At least you are still conservative
on those issues, just kidding I for one know that you speake your heart&mind.
I would also like to thank you, for all of your consideration with the problems
in our area this past session.
THANKS

this is bullshit. how can you release a man like this after he serves a measly sentence. How can these judges and jurys not think what they would feel if he killed their wife and child? His sentence is not enough to pay for what he did. Its one thing if this was a honest accident caused by weather or etc…. but this was on purpose. People who commit suicide are selfish and pathetic. Why is it okay for them to try and take the easy way out when we all deal with the problems good and bad and work through them for ourselves and our families. This story just makes me furious. I pray for the husband that lost his family.

FYI Everyone:
To add insult to injury, this guy’s attorney (a PD from Harford County named Kelly Casper), filed a Petition for Mod/Reduction of Sentence (Hold sub curia)on 4/15/09, which was less than one week after he pleaded guilty.
Why should anyone who pleads guilty to a felony be allowed to request a sentence modification? Thank your elected officials. Demand changes in the law or say farewell to incumbents at the voting poles.

I must be very naive but I always thought that judges had guidelines. How can their verdicts on almost identical cases be so skewed? There are people in HDC serving one year on a first DUI with no personal injuries. As a taxpayer, I don’t want to pay for even one day for him to enjoy the luxury of jail. An eye for an eye!!!
