Ricky Shamar Washington, a 28 year old Edgewood man, was found guilty today in Harford County Circuit Court, of first degree rape, first degree sexual offense, first degree assault, third degree burglary and use of a handgun in a crime of violence in connection with an attack that happened in October of 2007.
The trial was a retrial, due to the first one ending in a mistrial back in November 2008. The trial was heard before Judge Angela Eaves and took a week to conclude. After a day and a half of deliberations, the jury returned their verdict.
“The victim is so very relieved and finally feels safe knowing Mr. Washington can not hurt her anymore,” said Lisa Hyle Marts, the Assistant State’s Attorney who handled the case.
Mr. Washington is facing two life sentences. The sentencing is set for July.
This piece of trash should be taken out back and shot.
Don’t be so quick to believe everything you read. Harford county is always glad to put a man of color behind bars. The reason it was a mis trial in the first place is because it’s not true. She knows Latoya Smith knows the truth. She will have to live with the lies she continues to tell . I guess this is another feather in the hat of the states attorneys office too. There was no evidence, no gun, no DNA, just think how many men were arrested and sent to jail and years later found out it was all a lie!!! i think if theres a reasonable doubt the person is innocent, and there wasnt enough evidence to convict him unlawfully done!

On a serious note, is it possible the trauma of going through a rape might have caused her some issues, the fact of having to re live it again, assuming it happened, might have caused some problems talking about it, for example PTSD from serving overseas, the issues soldiers have and i would have to say being raped would be far worse, short of having your head cut off, but the damage and would be unthinkable, so can the changes or the inconsistancy possibly come fom the hardship of re-living a rape.
Also if i were a prosecutor i would not want to be responcible for convicting an inocent man, i cant imagine the prosecutor didn have some evidence ocase to present

Wich is evident from your prosecutor statment and unless you have been raped or suffered from some major form of intense trauma from a life altering event that was near death you cant say what is going on in here head. And even if you did you still cant say whats going on in her head cause it affects everyone differantly, like repressed memories. The President is in the Executive branch and no branch can impose it’s will on the other. It’s called checks and balances, made to prevent a dictatorship.

I would like to know what Obama has to do with this situation? On a serious note I would like to comment on how there was an injustice done to this young man. I have been involved and followed this case for the last 18 months and I will continue to as long as my faith will allow me to. This case should have been thrown out the first day it entered court and for what reason you might ask? I emphasize this fact right here: NO DNA!!!!! NO DNA!!!!!! NO DNA!!!!. Oh!!! but there was DNA , and who’s you might ask? It was from ANOTHER MAN!!!. The DNA was found on a hand towel that Latoya Smith said her “alleged rapist” used. After recieving evidence like this I would have thrown this case right back at the state’s attorney! I still cannot understand how a court can convict an individual without the one source of evidence that is ever so crucial for a case such as this one! There are alleged rapes that occured over 20yrs ago which have been re-evaluated because they were convicted without DNA, and come to find out the alleged rapist was found not guilty becasue the DNA was not his. There was no bruising of any kind and no evidence what so ever of a forceful entry of her home. How could there be forceful entry if they both agreed to meet for a date on the night in question ? All I have to say is that this fight is definitely not over and it will be fought with justice not injustice this time around

DNA is over rated, then there is the problem inwhich you cold be half way in and she says no and you keep going its now rape which cancels out your forced entry idea. In Latoya’s, case she could not deal with the fact that this young man had gotten back together with the love of his life of eight years !!! I would have to say that this was a real live case of fatal attraction. To comment on Iyle’s statement about needing the transcript for official evidence I shouldn’t need a transcript if I was physically there. I also disagree with the fact that DNA is “overated”. I find it hard to believe that you can physically rape someone without leaving traces of seminal fluid, scars, and bruising which in this case THERE WAS NONE!!!!! And you’re asking how I might know know these things? It is because I was sitting through hours of cross examinations and the displaying of evidence. To top it off the safe nurse in charge of conducting Latoya’s exam was discredited by the professional himself who developed the exam for the state of Maryland!!!! So that right there should’ve been enough proof that there was NO RAPE. Instead of the great judicial system of harford County worrying about receiving points and kodos for re-election, they should’ve looked at the facts instead of locking up an innocent man and ATTEMPTING to throw away the key. I emphasize attempt because a REAL judicial system would have never given this case a light of day, and that is why this case is in the process of being taken to another level and this young man will recieve the justice he deserves.
I personally know the person involved in this case. He is a good man. I have left my children alone with him and he has been nothing but trustworthy. This whole case is based on lies and a bitter girl (I’m not even going to call her a woman) who has single-handedly ruin yet another black man’s life. Harford County is a smaller representation of a overall biased sadistic and racist judicial system. Ricky Washington is a close friend of mine so of course I show bias in this case. The facts do remain no DNA evidence, physical evidence and victims statements of said events were suspect and kept changing. Look I’m gonna be as real as possible Ricky Washington was heavily convicted based on the death of Tiffany Fouts 1995. There was alot of bullshit thrown around then from the police, the Aegis and alot of racist or ignorant bitches. People are going to beleive what they want to beleive especially if your already inclined to beleive that a persons skin color adds more value to their life and self worth than someone who is not shall I say white.
