Fight Hunger and Celebrate Harford County Day at LPGA

(Havre de Grace, MD) – – The McDonald’s LPGA Championship has raised over $46 million for the Ronald McDonald house and other children’s charities over the past 28 years. On Friday, June 12, 2009, is Harford County Day, and the tournament will be offering free admission to patrons who bring four non-perishable food items to the gate.

Thanks to a special partnership with Tyson Foods, the McDonald’s LPGA Championship will be donating all received items to the Harford Community Action Agency and the Maryland Food Bank. Join us in the fight against hunger by participating in this special event. Maryland families need your help!

In addition to the food drive, Harford County Day will be celebrated at the Harford County Tourism Expo tent all day on Friday, June 12 with a host of special activities.

Five hundred visitors can pick up their free environmentally friendly Harford County Love It Grocery Tote Bag filled with visitor information all day long. Meet Harford County Executive David R. Craig at the Harford County Expo tent from 10 a.m. to noon. “We are proud to host the McDonald’s LPGA Championship one final year and eager to support the Maryland Food Bank in its mission to fight hunger,” said County Executive David R. Craig, who will be joined by the Aberdeen IronBirds mascot Ferris in greeting guests at the Harford County Expo Tent at the LPGA on Friday.

Visitors to the expo tent can pick up a free caricature portrait by Harford County artist Rick Wright. Children can pick up free treasures from the Harford Treasure Chest between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Visitors can sign up at the Harford County expo tent to win the Ultimate LPGA Experience, anytime between Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13. The prize includes two Champions Club Passes for Sunday June 14, the final round. The VIP Lounge is in the Bulle Rock Clubhouse on the 18 hole with a lunch buffet and open bar. The Ultimate LPGA Experience also includes inside-the-rope access to players and a VIP parking pass. The winner does not need to be present to win.
