BEL AIR _ Maryland State Police charged two Harford County men with two counts of first-degree assault Saturday after it was reported they pointed a AR-15 upper receivers modified rifle at a motorist and his passenger during an incident of road rage.
Michael Allan Kaminski, 19 of the 900 block of Lynham Court, Bel Air, MD. and Allen Timothy Reed, 18, of the 1400 block of Brierwood Court, Joppa, MD. were also charged with two counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, stemming from the incident on Conowingo Road shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Kaminski, Reed and a juvenile passenger, were traveling on southbound Conowingo Road in a pickup truck, near the Darlington community, when a motorist passed them in a reported reckless manner. It was alleged the suspects threw a beverage at the motorists, who began following them closely after the suspect passed them in a similar fashion.
As the vehicles continued southbound on Conowingo Road, Reed reportedly displayed a rifle out the window of the truck at the motorist and his passenger in a threatening manner. The motorist subsequently contacted the Maryland State Police at the Bel Air Barrack, relaying a description of his assailants and their vehicle.
The victims continued following Kaminski’s truck to a residential community near Thomas Run Road, where Troopers and Harford County sheriff’s deputies converged on the area and took Kaminski into custody following a brief search of the neighborhood. TFC. J. K. Holloway also recovered a rifle during his investigation. Reed was apprehended a short time later. The juvenile passenger was also interviewed by Troopers, at which time it was determined the juvenile did not participate in the reported assault.
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported during the ordeal. Both Kaminski and Reed were taken to the Harford County Detention Center pending an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
