First-ever Wren Solutions SRO Scholarship winner, DFC Elizabeth Harper of Harford County Sheriff’s Office, to receive award during NASRO Conference ceremony on Friday, July 3

BALTIMORE, June 29, 2009 – Wren, a provider of enterprise video management solutions since 1983, announced today that it has selected Deputy First Class (DFC) Elizabeth Harper, a school resource officer (SRO) of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, as the 2009 recipient of its first ever $2,500 SRO Scholarship award. DFC Harper serves the Fallston Middle and High Schools in Fallston, Maryland. The scholarship, offered and administered through the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), will be awarded at a special ceremony on Friday, July 3 at 8:30 AM ET as part of NASRO’s 19th annual SRO/School Safety Conference at the Baltimore Hilton Hotel.

SRO Scholarship Awards Community Service, Leadership and Innovative Use of Technology Announced in December 2008, the scholarship program was created by Wren to help SROs further their
education, thereby bringing even more expertise and security strategies to protect the schools they serve.

Scholarship applicants were judged on such criteria as their employment history as an SRO; contributions they made to their SRO program and the community; examples of their leadership in their SRO role; and how they utilize technology to enhance safety in the school.

“Wren is honored to award the first scholarship to such an exemplary candidate as DFC Harper. We found her service to the school and the community at large to go above and beyond the call of duty; in addition to being impressed with her innovative and hands-on use of technology to promote a safer learning environment,” said Andrew Wren, president of Wren.

Scholarship Winner Inspired to Become SRO to Combine Law Enforcement with Love of Teaching

DFC Harper has served with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office since March 2006 and indicated in her application that she was inspired to become a SRO to positively integrate a law enforcement presence
into Harford County’s educational system with her love of teaching.

“All aspects of the position not only define who I am as a deputy sheriff, but who I am as a person with the natural ability to teach,” she commented.

The students at Fallston Middle and High Schools benefit from both areas of DFC Harper’s talents. In addition to her responsibilities as SRO, DFC Harper serves in various committees and assists with the
Sheriff’s Office Summer Youth Academy. She’s also a teacher of law classes, assists and encourages students to participate in the Sheriff’s Office Youth Explorer’s Program and coaches the high school’s cross country team, among multiple other activities.

DFC Harper is currently a student at Harford Community College. She will transfer to Towson University in the spring semester of 2010 to complete her undergraduate criminal justice degree, with
an additional focus on legal studies and education.

In addition to awarding DFC Harper with the $2,500 scholarship, Wren will also offer Fallston High School access to its Encapsulon Assessment tool, a secure, web-based tool that assesses potential risk and provides practical, actionable recommendations for an individual school. Introduced for the first time at NASRO’s 19th annual SRO/School Safety Conference, Encapsulon Assessment is designed to look at an individual school’s potential security and safety risks, response resources, policies and procedures. The
tool allows school law enforcement and staff to systematically assess risk on the premises.
