From the HCC sports desk:
BALTIMORE, Md.—The Harford women’s soccer team continued its unbeaten streak as it downed CCBC-Essex, 3-2, on Wednesday night in Baltimore. Freshman Beth Lambros (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) notched the game-winner after taking a cross from freshman Jet Amerg (Elkton, Md./Rising Sun) during the 73rd minute.
The Knights (2-2, 1-1 MDJUCO) drew first blood around the tenth minute, but freshman Penelope Fantis (Fallston, Md./Fallston) would add her team-leading fifth season goal for the Fighting Owls (4-0, 2-0 MDJUCO) with 15 minutes left in the half off a penalty kick to knot the score before the break.
The Knights would again score first to start the second half, and take a 2-1 lead, but freshman Erin Lynn (Fallston, Md./Fallston) would feed redshirt freshman Lyndsie Ludwig (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright/Wilmington) in the 65th minute to tie the score once again.
Eight minutes later, Amerg and Lambros would connect as Amerg played an angled cross into the box from the right that Lambros buried into the net for the game-winner.
Freshman Cierra Stinson (Nottingham, Md./Mercy) went the distance in the net for the Owls and tallied four saves in 90:00.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Saturday when they host Cape Fear for a 1:00 p.m. game at Harford Stadium.
