BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford men’s and women’s basketball teams combined for a 91-point margin of victory as they rolled over visiting Valley Forge Military on Monday night at the Susquehanna Center.
The Fighting Owls women (6-14) bested the Trojans (2-10) by 30 points, 73-43, while the Fighting Owls men (13-7) scored a season-high 132 points in a 132-71 victory over the Trojans (1-10).
Freshman JoJo Woodruff (Capitol Heights, Md./Wise) tallied his second straight 20+ point game with 21 on the night, while also dishing out eight assists.
Harford struggled at the start, with Valley Forge leading, 18-16 with 13:12 left in the first before a 13-0 Harford run gave the Owls a lead they would maintain until the final buzzer. The Owls built a 25-point, 62-37, lead by the end of the first half and would break the 30-point barrier just 7:30 into the second stanza.
Harford would lead by as much as 63, 129-66, on the way to the 132-71 lopsided victory.
On the women’s side, sophomore Brittany Mears (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) led the way with 17 points, while sophomore Kiara Reeves (Aberdeen, Md./C. Milton Wright) tallied a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Harford began the game on an unusual note, taking a 1-0 lead before the opening tip thanks to a technical foul on the Trojans due to an administrative error. The Owls would build a 10-1 lead by the 15:22 mark and would not give up a field goal until almost six minutes into the period at the 14:04 mark.
The lead would quickly reach double-digits, just over seven minutes into the first, and Harford would take a 38-11 lead into the break.
A 6-1 run to start the second half gave Harford their biggest lead of the game, a 32-point advantage, 44-12 with 17:57 remaining on the clock.
The Trojans couldn’t come any closer than a 24-point deficit, 50-26 at the 12:50 mark as the Owls rolled to the 73-43 win.
Both Fighting Owls teams return to action on Wednesday as they travel to CCBC-Dundalk for a MDJUCO Conference match-up against CCBC-Dundalk with the women tipping off at 6:00 p.m. and the men following at 8:00 p.m.
