From Merrie Street’s campaign:
Bel Air, April 11, 2010 – Headlining the kickoff for Merrie Street in her campaign for Harford County Register of Wills, former Maryland first lady Kendel Ehrlich endorsed Merrie in her bid for the office. Mrs. Ehrlich attended the campaign kickoff at Bel Air’s Liriodendron on the same day her husband, former Governor Bob Ehrlich appeared at Bel Air’s courthouse to announce his intention to once again run for Governor of Maryland.
“Harford County needs to launch a grass roots campaign for each level of office, making sure Merrie Street is elected Harford County’s Register of Wills and making sure Bob Ehrlich is elected Maryland’s Governor for the future of the state,” Mrs. Ehrlich told the crowd.
Ehrlich told Street’s supporters that Merrie is the very best candidate for Register of Wills.
“I am a friend of Merrie Street. She is a great communicator. I used to listen to Merrie on the radio and thought one day I’d like to do the same thing,” Ehrlich said in referencing the radio show she and her husband hosted on WBAL. “I can tell you that Merrie has the experience to update the office of Register of Wills. Tell all your friends about her.”
Helen Delich Bentley, who represented Harford County in Congress for a decade, echoed Ehrlich’s endorsement of Street.
“There is no one better than Merrie Street for Register of Wills. Merrie has impeccable integrity. She has the compassion, she has the experience and she deserves your vote,” said Bentley in urging the crowd to get out the vote for Street.
As Street addressed the group gathered for her campaign kickoff she thanked both Mrs. Ehrlich and Mrs. Bentley for their belief in her.
“Helen Bentley and Kendel Ehrlich have long fought for what they believe in,” Street said. “And I am so very grateful they believe in me.”
“Over the last decade, thousands of Harford County voters have gone to the polls not even bothering to vote for Register of Wills because they had no idea what the office was. That’s what I intend to change. My entire career has been devoted to providing people with information that will allow them to make informed decisions,” said Street. “As Register of Wills I will use my experience with developing outreach programming to provide the people of Harford County necessary information well in advance of their need to use the office.”

I am not going to cast my vote on who the candidate knows or who they are endorsed by. I look at the background and qualifications of each of the candidates. I have looked at all five candidates that are running for the Register of Wills and the best qualified one right now is Merrie Street. She has the background and experience with all the communities that make up Harford County. She has the experience with outreach programs and will make the Office of Register of Wills known in the future.
Please take the time to check out the qualifications of all political candidates. Make the right choice for the good of the elected office.
