From Harford County government:
(Bel Air, MD) – – The Harford County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits (DILP) will host two, one day training sessions on the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). The classes are being offered as part of Harford County’s initial Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Award.
The one-day classes will focus on the fundamental provisions of the 2009 IECC to help assist county inspectors, builders and contractors in transitioning from the current energy provisions of the 2006 International Residential Code to the requirements of the 2009 IECC.
In an effort to help reduce our nation’s energy consumption, the U. S. Department of Energy and the State of Maryland have enacted laws that require enforcement of the 2009 IECC. The newer provisions will require all new and renovated structures within Harford County to be constructed to a higher energy efficiency standard to help preserve energy resources.
The sessions will be held June 1 and 2, 2010 at the Higher Education and Applied Technology Center (HEAT) in Aberdeen. Each session will begin at 8:00 a.m. and should conclude by 3:00 p.m. The training is free; however those wishing to attend must register with the Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits. To register contact Debbie Wildberger or Paul Lawder at 410-638-3366.
Upon successful completion of the seminar all design professional and code officials will obtain .6 CEU’s and 6 contact hours.
