From the State Highway Administration:
Dear Elected Officials:
Progress Energy of Raleigh, North Carolina and its private hauling contractor, Bigge Crane & Rigging Co., are rescheduling their oversized vehicle transport through Harford County that was scheduled for this Thursday night, April 29. The move has been tentatively rescheduled for next Tuesday night, May 4.
A specially designed transport vehicle will haul a one-million pound generator from the Pennsylvania/Maryland State Line to west of Havre de Grace. The 21-foot wide, 19-foot tall load (generator and vehicle) will move approximately ten miles per hour, and will be escorted by Progress Energy’s private hauling contractor, Bigge Crane & Rigging, Co., Maryland State Police (MSP), and State Highway Administration (SHA).
The hauling route includes: MD 165 (Pylesville Road), MD 543 (Ady Road/Fountain Green Road), MD 22 (Churchville Road), and MD 155 (Level Road).
This will be a rolling operation; State highways will be temporarily closed and detoured as the vehicle makes its way along the route, and temporary detour route signs will be posted.
Sections of highways will immediately re-open once the vehicle has passed. The moving team will yield to emergency service vehicles.
NEW Tentative Schedule
8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 5

damn…this is great…another piece of change to our county, for being put out and all…after all, Route 22, one of the most insanely clogged thoroughfares in the State….is going to be closed, nada…zilch…
oh if the residents could just set up their yard sales quick enough…kids selling lemonade…old folks drooling in their Rita’s gelato’s ….the calm, slowness of the operation harkens back to a simpler time, when assholes roaring at high speed, on cell phones, bullshitting with someone not present, in a car on the highway…the slow down will be good for a day or two…good for the economy, good for folks who drive and intimidate…to take a break…time out…whatever.

Say what? It’s going to be closed for a few hours at night in the middle of the week and it won’t be closed the entire time, just while it’s actually moving that particular area. By the time it actually gets to 22 it’ll probably be around midnight.
It’s an inconvenience, not the end of civilization as we know it. Unless you happen to live right off the route (and even then it’ll probably only impact you for an hour or so at most) it’s not that big of a deal to go a different way (and if you don’t know a different way then look on the bright side…you’ll get to learn a new way to get around.)

whew!!!I’m so relieved…i owe my life to DW

Well there’s your problem…I lived in North CackolaCkie and this delay is typical. Every service down there will be there sometime between 8am and Thursday. But in th end there is something to be respected for taking your time these days 🙂

One of the most insanely clogged thoroughfares in the state? Talk about melodramatic! Possibly we could make it 4 lanes and eventually it will look like Joppa Rd in the Loch Raven area! I am sure all the developers would love that. Be serious, it gets slow for what, 1-1/2 hours a day TOTAL? I live off it and drive it ever day. Most of the day there are people riding your bumper for not doing 60 past the Arctic Circle. Find a different way or leave earlier/later to avoid the school buses and others of us who also pay for that street.
