A major power outage in the southern portion of the county cut power to approximately 8,000 BGE customers Tuesday morning.
According to BGE spokeswoman Linda Foy, service was lost at about 10 a.m. Tuesday. Power was restored to approximately 4,500 residents by 10:30 a.m., Foy said, with power expected to be restored to the remainder by Tuesday afternoon.
The cause of the outage remained under investigation during the early afternoon hours.
The outage affected the Route 40 corridor and stretched as far north as Bel Air, according to the Harford County Division of Emergency Operations.
Drivers are reminded that intersections at which a traffic signal is not functioning should be treated as a four-way stop.
