Harford County Government has taken another step towards achieving the goal of environmental stewardship by joining ICLEI. ICLEI was established as the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives in 1990. Today, the organization is officially known as ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
Becoming a member of ICLEI, Harford County furthers its commitment to sustainability. The member tools will assist the county in conducting a greenhouse gas inventory as well as developing a measureable and tangible sustainability strategy. Additionally, as a member of ICLEI, Harford County will be able to share its successes with other cities and counties in the world, as well as learn from their achievements.
LCEI international is an organization of over 1,110 cities and counties in theworld, with more than 600 of them located in the United States. The mission of ICELI is toprovide tools and resources for reducing greenhouse gas emissions while empoweringlocal governments to reach their own sustainability goals.
