From Maryland State Police:
A month-long, multi-jurisdictional investigation and an anonymous tip led to the arrests of two armed robbery suspects on Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010.
On June 17, 2010 at 1:15 a.m., troopers responded to the Abingdon Walgreen’s Pharmacy for a robbery in which thousands of Oxycontin pills were stolen. Witnesses indicated that the suspect had concealed his face and was armed with a handgun during the robbery. No one was hurt during the crime.
During the investigation, troopers canvassed surrounding jurisdictions and discovered that the same suspects were likely responsible for a robbery handled by the Baltimore County Police. The second robbery occurred at the Perry Hall Walgreen’s on July 16, 2010. During this robbery there were several thousand Oxycodone tablets stolen.
As part of their investigation, Bel Air Barrack investigators distributed hundreds of Metro CrimeStopper flyers throughout the Edgewood area. On Monday, July 19, 2010 an anonymous tip was received through Metro Crime Stoppers that lead investigators to potential suspects. Investigators from the Maryland State Police and Baltimore County Police were able to corroborate some of the information in the tip. Additional investigation resulted in further reinforcing evidence linking the suspects to the crimes.
On Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010, investigators from the Harford County Joint Investigative Unit (consisting of investigators from the Maryland State Police and Harford County Sheriff’s Office), Special Tactical Assault Team Element (S.T.A.T.E.), and investigators from the Baltimore County Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at the suspects’ home where both suspects were detained without incident. Evidence, to include Oxycodone and Oxycontin tablets, was recovered from the scene linking the suspects to the robberies. A handgun, possibly the one used in the robberies, was recovered at another location.
Investigators from the Baltimore County Police plan to apply for additional charges this week.
