Harford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information concerning the homicide of Deborah Elaine Burgess, age 52, that was reported on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 9:30pm. She was found murdered in her home located in the 1500 block of Clearview Drive in Street, MD.

well this was my aunt… please let me know who you think did it because we really need to catch the person… i hope the sun of a bitch dies who did it… my aunt did not deserve to die like this…
Does anyone know the cause of her death or the trauma? That in itself may give important clues to suspects. Also, do they know the approximate time of death? And do they know for a fact that it was male or females involved? With limited information about the crime no one can help the police. They need to be more forth coming. Also the home was for sale. Did they get her phone records??
I spoke with the detective and gave him what information that I had. He told me that they are not releasing any info to protect their investigation. The trailer was for sale but the phone number listed was not hers.
The suspected person is Lyle Racine, a 47 year old crack and cocaine abuser who claims to be a Pagan & is now sitting in a Pennsylvania jail on a fugitive warrant. I ran into Lyle back in March, 2010 in Elkton at a restaurant/bar. He showed me a knife tucked under his right sleeve at the wrist! He looked cracked out and was acting weird. I’ve always known Lyle to be a little strange but a nice guy, on this particular night he seemed creepy weird & I declined to have a drink with him.
I was told the other day that Debbie Burgess was stabbed to death in her home and that she had been seeing Lyle for the past two months. I was also told that Lyle was questioned by the authorities and an alibi was produced by a supposed employer of Lyle’s that said he was working. I’ve never known Lyle to work on a Saturday night, he’s always chasing the almighty white rock on the weekends. He supposedely had a Pagan that works at Maryland Pyle Driving concoct an alibi for him & said they have him on video at work. That’s total Bull Shit…When I asked Lyle where he was working back in March, he replied; stealing motorcycles! I excused myself from his booth to go to the rest room and hauled ass out the back door! He’s been barred from my house & my property for life, for stealing a cell phone from my pocket book a few years ago! I told him if I ever catch him near my house or on my property again, I’ll shoot his tires out and fill his vehicle full of bullet holes! He knows I’ll do it too, and knows not to ever mess with me!
He’s definitely very dangerous and has all the young teens that ride their bicycles selling crack in the Octororo Creek area in Colora, scared to death of him!
Although I’ve never seen him display any type of violance, Lyle is a bad boy but he doesn’t scare me in the least, if he is responsible for this needless murder, I’ll make it my mission in life to help bring him down! Lyle is capable of anything! The Pagans are nothing but a bunch of little pussys that hide behind their colors. For a man to murder a helpless woman in her own home is nothing but a coward! It was definitely someone she knew well, or thought she knew well and chances are pretty good they engaged in an argument, she may have threatened to turn him in on outstanding warrants in PA. If he was cracked out at the time, there’s no doubt in my mind that he flipped out!
I’ve never known Lyle to ever be legal. He’s always stealing car tags, has never had a current legal driver’s license and is barred from every bar in Harford & Cecil county. Lyle also has a few children that he never sees or pays child support for due to their mothers being afraid to take him to court!
Debbie Burgess was very unfortunate to have ever crossed paths with Lyle Racine. The minute I was told she was seeing Lyle, I knew right away he was involved.
What freaks me out is that I dated Lyle in 2001 & he stayed at my house frequently. We would go out to dinner, engage in long in depth conversations, laugh, watch movies and spend quiet nights at home! I really enjoyed his company back then, he’s so gorgeous and quite the charmer.
I had to turn him lose though due to the monkey on his back…I hate cocaine, crack & I hate being around cocaine/crack users. I don’t want it near me, and I don’t want it in my home!
Lyle only hangs out with people that smoke crack or indulge in cocaine, when the drugs are gone, he moves on to the next fool!
I hope it wasn’t Lyle because I like him, but over the past few years every time I’ve run into him, I’ve detected a dark side and it’s very creepy, so I keep my distance. I always sense he’s done something bad or he’s about to do something bad. I have an uncanny knack for seeing right thru him. I know Lyle better that he knows himself!
R.I.P Debbie Burgess whoever you were! I pray for you and your family and I pray for justice for this senseless murder!
so who do you think did it? Do you think they were white or black? maybe it was a couple that did it, This is still under” whatcha call investigation. ever who did this, maybe they were already in the house did anybody ever put that to a thought? it does ny have to be a man”” it can be a woman too. somebody did not like her, she did not deserve this!
Poor girl! Very creepy, too close to home for me! Hope they catch the coward that did this to her.
I have lived in the Street Community my entire life. I am in my late 40’s. Starting about 15 years ago, when all of the farm land was lost to development, we have noticed a change in our community. It is so sad that this community is no longer rural. It is also very sad that the laws, which at one time prevented ten houses on less than 10 acres, have been overturned in mid-night sessions by politicians who care little about preserving our once beautiful and no-longer peaceful community. The crime rate has increased and the law enforcement officers, the ones who do seem old enough to shave, don’t care about their jobs — YES, I HAVE HAD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WHEN CITY PEOPLE MOVED NEAR US AND DECIDED TO USE OUR PASTURE AS A PUBLIC PARK. My answer is that my family and I are moving from here as soon as we are able. We will seek out a TRUE RURAL COMMUNITY and make sure that the laws do not change to allow illegal development (like allowing 5 houses on a piece of land with no drain field and a negative perk test, like changing the survey property line in the middle of the night to make room for one more house than is legally allowed !)

What does her death have to do with these new zoning laws and building rights obtained? If there is a connection I surely would like to know as I am a property owner in Northern Harford County and has had her life turned upside down. I have noticed a increase in deaths whether classified as suicides or natural or homicide in this area in the last five years. Since I have been a property owner since 1985 I can tell you that it is highly unusual for such crimes and would like to know if they are real estate driven..
I really don’t think it’s real estate related, a trailer isn’t worth that much unless it’s sitting on a nice piece of property like 800 acres or more, and then a deal can always be worked out…there’s a price on everything! Certainly not worth murdering someone over!
She hooked up with the wrong person at the wrong time! Maybe drugs were involved too since Street, Darlington and surrounding areas are loaded with anything you want. Seems the cops don’t care either…nothing but a bunch of punks afraid of their own shadows!!
They have to have some kind of idea who’s responsible for this needless murder.
Whoever did this will get caught, it’s just a matter of time…people run their mouths & Street is a small community!
