From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
At approximately 1:30am on Saturday, September 11, 2010, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident that occurred in the 1600 block of Hanson Road near Harford Square Drive, which resulted in the fatality of Jesse Thomas Washington III, age 22 of Edgewood, MD.
Upon arrival to the scene, it was quickly determined that both occupants of the vehicles, a 2006 Honda Accord and a 1990 Honda Accord were trapped inside of the cars. Firefighters from Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department extracted Jesse Thomas Washington III from the 1990 Honda Accord and Jesbel Gonzalez, age 37, of Abingdon, MD.
Mr. Washington III , age 22, driver of the 1990 Honda Accord was transported by Joppa Magnolia Fire Company to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased shortly after 3am on September 11, 2010. Ms. Gonzalez, age 37, driver of the 2006 Honda Accord was transported by Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in serious condition.
Investigation by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office determined that the 1990 Honda Accord driven by Mr. Washington III was heading eastbound on Hanson Road when it crossed the double yellow line striking the 2006 Honda Accord head on that was being driven by Ms. Gonzalez. Deputies, EMS and medical personnel detected an odor of alcohol on Mr. Washington III. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Ms Gonzalez condition was reported to be normal. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.
