An Oldtime Harford county-ite says
Over 67% of the Harford county govt. budget goes to fund our schools, along with many more funds from the state and federal govt. to fund our schools. If this is the case, and taxes from all three will be rising this year, we better have a full house attending asking questions about what is being taught, how, why and to what end.
The use of our schools to indoctrinate or educate, which is happening? Students go to school to learn, but how many are learning basic skills? How many are being pushed through the system? How many of our students are learning how to learn, or to be able to budget or to work?
How many of our students are being bullied? How many of our students are being the bully? How many of our schools are not meeting basic skill levels? How many of our teachers are teaching classes that they have no idea of what they are doing?
I am not accusing anyone of anything…just asking questions.
Please, attend and listen. These folks are your employees. We, Harford countians, Marylanders, Americans, we all pay their salary and the after effects of the failures w/n the schools, un-employment, gangs, et al.
Attend and learn for yourselves.

Very well stated County-ite!
Ron Eaton says
Couldn’t agree more! I plan on attending and would enjoy talking wiht you about your concerns and perspectives. You are absolutely right about employer / employee realtionships. Some elected and appointed officals don’t understand that public service is not a right – it is a priviledge!
Watcher says
Wow, really? First you no-showed the League of Women Voters event at Harford Community College and now you spell “privilege” incorrectly? Lucky for you I cannot vote in your district. How can you represent the interests of children and education when you cannot spell?
Ron Eaton says
You are correct about spelling. However, what the LWV failed to mention was that I was out of town living up to an obligation made in April. I notifed the LWV in writing long before the event. Did they acknowledge that in public? They did not mention that. Or did you notice that the County Executive was not there because of a medical emergency? The LWV did not mention that.
Wondering says
Does spelling indicate a person’s ability to do a job?
People make mistakes. Which I am sure you have made some in your lifetime Watcher.
Watcher says
Well, I expect and hope that my representatives are at least literate. But I can’t vote for him anyway so it’s a moot (look it up) point.
