From Patrick McGrady:
The Rotary Club of Aberdeen is proud to contribute $40,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County.
Sheryl Davis Kohl, the President of the Rotary Club of Aberdeen, presented the check to Randy Acosta, the executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County.
The Boys and Girls Club of Harford County is the chief beneficiary of the Rotary Club’s Golf Tournament, which took place this year on September 13, 2010.
“The annual tournament has grown over the years and is successful because of the active community in the Aberdeen area and the generosity of businesses and individuals in Harford County,” says Mrs. Davis Kohl.
The Boys & Girls Clubs in Harford County work with young people to help them reach their full potential as citizens.
“This money will be used to help fund programs and so we can continue to offer annual memberships to the kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs who pay $12.00 per year. This money will let us help even more.” says Mr. Acosta. “ I am proud of our strong relationship with the Rotary Club of Aberdeen.”
The Rotary Club of Aberdeen was chartered in 1959 and is actively involved with charities all over Harford County.
Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
Before handing over the check the Rotary should have required the Boys and Girls Club to mandate background checks of their volunteers. Currently that is not a requirement and any person with a criminal background can work as a volunteer with the youths. The National Director advised the B&GC does not have that requirement and leaves it up to the local organizations to do that. So the next time one of your children are involved in a sleep-over with the club I would be sure who is minding the store.
Recently retired,
If you have any information on a volunteer, instead of making false claims against 2 great organizations, you should present this information to the proper personel so it can be handled in the proper manner. Screaming fire in a movie theater to scare people is unacceptable and so is your post. Maybe since you recently retired and if you are volunteering, maybe your the one we need to look into.
You should be ashamed of yourself for even making a statement like this. Its been a long time since I have even been on this site let alone written on this site, but you have crossed the line. I’m glad I was made aware of this post.
